Lesson 23 How Long Have You Been Studying Chinese
玛丽：对不起，我迟到了。
张红：没关系。路上堵车了吗？
玛丽：没有。我的自行车坏了，轮胎破了。
张红：是吗？真倒霉。换轮胎换了多长时间？
玛丽：大概换了半个小时。平时一个钟头就能到，可是今天我花了一个半小时。你等了多长时间？
张红：大概二十分钟吧。
玛丽：着急了吧？真对不起。
张红：没事儿。
Mǎlì: Duìbuqǐ, wǒ chídào le.
Zhāng hóng: Méi guānxi. Lùshang dǔchē le ma?
Mǎlì: Méiyǒu. Wǒ de zìxíngchē huài le, lúntāi pò le.
Zhāng hóng: Shì ma? Zhēn dǎoméi. Huàn lúntāi huàn le duō cháng shíjiān?
Mǎlì: Dàgài huànle bàn ge xiǎoshí. Píngshí yí ge zhōngtóu jiù néng dào, kěshì jīntiān wǒ huāle yí ge bàn xiǎoshí. Nǐ děngle duō cháng shíjiān?
Zhāng hóng: Dàgài èrshí fēnzhōng ba.
Mǎlì: Zhāojí le ba? Zhēn duìbuqǐ.
Zhāng hóng: Méi shìr.
Mary: Sorry, I'm late. Zhang Hong: That's OK. Was there a traffic jam on the way (here) ?
Mary: No. The bicycle I took broke down; it blew a tire.
Zhang Hong: Really? What bad luck. How long did it take to change the tire?
Mary: It took about half an hour. Usually it takes only an hour to get here, but today it took an hour and a half. How long have you been waiting?
Zhang Hong: About twenty minutes or so.
Mary: You must have been getting anxious, huh? I'm so sorry.
Zhang Hong: It's OK.
玛丽：你用英语写的作文真不错。
张红：谢谢！不过，我的口语还不行。
玛丽：我看挺好的。你学了多长时间英语？
张红：我从初中开始学习，已经学了十年了。
玛丽：十年？那么长时间？
张红：是啊！我的语法还可以，简单的翻译也没问题，可是不大会说。你学了多长时间汉语？
玛丽：我学了半年了。
张红：下学期你还在北京学习吗？
玛丽：当然啦，我打算在中国学习两年呢。
Mǎlì: Nǐ yòng yīngyǔ xiě de zuòwén zhēn búcuò.
Zhāng hóng: Xièxie! Búguò, wǒ de kǒuyǔ hái bùxíng.
Mǎlì: Wǒ kàn tǐng hǎo de. Nǐ xué le duō cháng shíjiān Yīngyǔ?
Zhāng hóng: Wǒ cóng chūzhōng kāishǐ xuéxí, yǐjīng xué le shí nián le.
Mǎlì: Shí nián? Nàme cháng shíjiān?
Zhāng hóng: Shì a! Wǒ de yǔfǎ hái kěyǐ, jiǎndān de fānyì yě méi wèntí, kěshì bú dà huì shuō. Nǐ xué le duō cháng shíjiān Hànyǔ?
Mǎlì: Wǒ xué le bàn niánle.
Zhāng hóng: Xià xuéqí nǐ hái zài Běijīng xuéxí ma?
Mǎlì: Dāngrán la, wǒ dǎsuàn zài Zhōngguó xuéxí liǎng nián ne.
Mary: The essay you wrote in English is really very good.
Zhang Hong : Thanks, but my spoken (English) is still lacking.
Mary: I think it's pretty good. How long have you been studying English?
Zhang Hong: I started studying (it) in junior high school, (so) I've been learning (it) for ten years already.
Mary: Ten years? It's been that long?
Zhang Hong: That's right. My grammar is okay, and simple translation is no problem, but I can't really speak it (too well) . How long have you been studying Chinese?
Mary: I've been learning it for half a year.
Zhang Hong: Next semester are you still going to be studying in Beijing?
Mary: Of course! I'm planning to study in China for two years!
