Concord University College Fujian Normal University, was jointly established by Fujian Normal University and relevant enterprises and institutions. It was approved by the People's Government of Fujian Province in 2003 and was one of the first independent colleges confirmed by the Ministry of Education. The college offers full-time undergraduate education and has been recognized with multiple honors, including "National Advanced Independent College," "China's Most Valuable Brand Independent College," "China's High-Level Independent College," "National Model Staff Home," "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in Fujian Province," and "Fujian Province Five-Four Red Flag Youth League Committee."
With a history of more than a century, the college continues the name and traditions of Fujian Xiehe University, one of the predecessors of Fujian Normal University. The college inherits the excellent educational traditions of the old Xiehe University and embraces the motto "Virtue and Progress, Knowledge and Self-Strengthening." Leveraging Fujian Normal University's century-old educational resources, the college has actively explored new educational models with innovative mechanisms and systems, aiming to cultivate highly skilled, application-oriented, and innovative talents needed by society.
Located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, at the Xuefu South Road in the Minhou Shangjie University Town, the campus covers nearly a thousand acres. It is surrounded by the lush Qishan Mountain and the flowing Xiyuan River, creating a beautiful and culturally rich environment. The campus is equipped with complete facilities for teaching, experimentation, culture, sports, and student life, making it a harmonious blend of modernity, technology, culture, ecology, and landscaping, creating a "Mountain Water Learning Village."
The college relies on the strengths of Fujian Normal University's disciplines to create distinctive and branded programs. It currently has eight academic departments: the Department of Cultural Industry, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of International Business, Department of Information Technology, Department of Economics and Law, Department of Management, Marxism College, and International Education College. The college offers 32 undergraduate programs across various disciplines, including literature, engineering, education, economics, law, management, and arts, as well as two international undergraduate programs. The total number of full-time students exceeds 13,000.
The college has implemented a "Talent-Driven College" strategy, making full use of the flexible educational mechanisms of independent colleges. It has built a high-quality, well-structured, and dynamic faculty team that ensures the quality of education. Among its 700+ full-time faculty members, over 30% hold senior titles, and more than 85% have graduate degrees. The faculty includes two outstanding teachers from Fujian Province, 12 experts, teaching experts, and young teaching masters at the provincial or higher level, as well as three provincial-level teaching teams. Nearly 20 faculty members have been selected for provincial and national talent support programs.
The college actively promotes teaching and research at higher levels. It has more than 100 provincial-level applied disciplines, first-class programs, distinctive specialties, and key courses. It has successfully launched five projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and Social Science Fund, and more than 200 other research projects, including over 60 major provincial and national projects. The college has won eight provincial-level higher education teaching achievement awards and eight provincial-level social science excellence awards.
The college adheres to a "Student-Centered" educational philosophy, with the goal of cultivating application-oriented talents who have solid foundational knowledge, high quality, and strong skills. The educational approach emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge, practical ability, and research capability. It implements a flexible academic system with credit-based courses, allowing students to determine their duration of study and graduate once they have completed the required credits. Over the years, students have won more than a thousand awards in various national and international competitions, and the employment rate of graduates has remained high, earning the title of "Advanced Collective in Graduate Employment Work in Fujian Province."
The college takes advantage of its geographical location to expand international cooperation and exchange, providing students with a "green channel" for studying abroad. It has established friendly cooperative relationships with universities in several foreign countries and Taiwan. In 2009, it became the first independent college in China to be approved as an overseas teaching center for the UK's Higher Education Diploma Program (SQA AD). The college has organized multiple student exchange programs to countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, and Taiwan.
As a growing institution, Fujian Normal University Concord College aims to meet the needs for high-level talent in response to economic and social development, as well as the strategic demands for the advancement of higher education.
