Hebei College of Science and Technology is a general undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education and administered by the Hebei Provincial Department of Education. It is located at No. 209, Donghai Road, Caofeidian, covering an area of 2808 acres, with a total building area of approximately 1.1 million square meters. The university has 1,780 faculty members and 32,089 enrolled students.
The school was founded in 1990 and was approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to a private general undergraduate institution in 2011, when it was renamed Hebei College of Science and Technology. In 2016, it was approved as a project unit for the establishment of professional master’s degree authorization. The university passed the Ministry of Education’s undergraduate teaching work evaluation in 2018. In October 2020, the Caofeidian campus was inaugurated, and in December of the same year, the university was listed as a pilot institution for the transformation to applied education in Hebei Province. In 2021, it passed the quality evaluation of ideological and political theory course construction in Hebei Province and was also assessed and approved for party-building work in private universities. In September 2023, the university officially submitted an application to the Ministry of Education for a change in its administrative address, with a subsequent transfer application in April this year.
The university comprises 9 colleges and 2 teaching departments: the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Computer Science, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Architecture and Engineering Management, the School of Arts, the School of Education, the School of Nursing and Health, the School of Marxism, the General Education Department, and the Physical Education Department. The school offers a comprehensive range of programs, focusing on engineering, modern services, and cultural creativity, with 40 undergraduate programs and 30 associate degree programs in fields such as engineering, management, economics, arts, education, and medicine.
In line with its goals for applied talent development, the university has established 1 central vocational education internship base, 1 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center, 8 school-level experimental centers, 196 basic and professional teaching laboratories, and 256 external teaching hospitals, training bases, and other facilities. With the philosophy of "high starting point planning, high standard construction, high-speed completion, and high-efficiency use," the university has developed sports fields, libraries, the Hong Building, engineering training centers, smart classrooms, and various facilities for students and faculty to study, work, and live. The campus network is equipped with a 10-gigabit core and full coverage of wired, wireless, and 5G signals.
The university adheres to the socialist direction of education, fully implements the Party's educational policies, and focuses on fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering morality and cultivating talent. Following the principles of “elite management teams, diversified faculty, and professional service teams,” the university continues to promote a talent-driven development strategy. It boasts a faculty composed of national and provincial experts, with professors and Ph.D. holders as the core, supported by young teachers and senior technical personnel from enterprises and institutions. The faculty has undertaken 149 projects, published 23 books, 42 textbooks, and 610 academic papers, and has received 73 national utility model patents, with results showing an annual upward trend.
Guided by the motto "Virtue broadens the horizon, strength leads to a distant future," the university strives to cultivate top-tier talent from its "second-tier" students. It is supported by the university’s "party-building leadership, student-centered approach, integration of management and education, and focus on morality and talent cultivation." The university has developed and innovated four educational channels: 1) Chinese traditional culture-driven gratitude education, 2) Red military culture-driven character-building education, 3) Advanced socialist culture-driven internalization education, and 4) Modern industry culture-driven interdisciplinary education. The university has been selected as a pilot institution for the Ministry of Education’s “One-Stop” Student Community Comprehensive Management Model and a labor education pilot school in Hebei Province. It has received multiple honors, including "China’s High Employment Rate Brand School," "National Featured School with Semi-Military Management," "Heilongjiang Province Lawful and Honest Education School," and "Advanced Unit in College Student Recruitment Work in Hebei Province."
