Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (JXUTCM) was established in 1959 and is located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, known for its rich history and talented people. The university is a public undergraduate institution co-built by the Ministry of Education, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Jiangxi Provincial Government. Since its founding, the university has adhered to its mission of "serving the national reform and development, serving the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and contributing to the local economic and social progress." It promotes the motto "Learning, Integrity, Strength, Precision" and aims to cultivate practical, innovative, and entrepreneurial talents who meet the needs of social progress and the TCM industry. The university strives to create a people-oriented institution and has developed into a key TCM university with a multi-disciplinary, coordinated development model that integrates teaching, research, and industry.

The university has earned numerous prestigious awards, including being recognized as a national advanced institution for Party building and ideological political work, a national civilized unit, and a national advanced unit for legal education. It is also listed as a "Model University for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform" and is part of the "Top 50 Universities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in China" and the "Second Batch of Artificial Intelligence Pilot Universities for Teacher Development."

JXUTCM has three campuses, covering over 2,000 acres, and currently hosts more than 21,000 full-time students. The university offers 18 educational and teaching institutions and operates three directly affiliated hospitals and nine non-affiliated hospitals. The faculty is strong, with 1,257 full-time teachers. The university has two doctoral-level disciplines, including Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology, as well as six master's degree disciplines. It is home to three first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province and 18 key disciplines under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There are seven national clinical key specialties, and the university offers 33 undergraduate programs, including 21 academic disciplines. Additionally, it has 6 national-level first-class program construction points and 15 provincial-level first-class program construction points.

The university boasts a number of prestigious research platforms, including national research centers and laboratories. It has four national-level research platforms, 59 provincial-level platforms, including seven national TCM laboratories and a number of provincial engineering research centers. It also has the right to recommend outstanding graduates for direct admission to master's programs without examination, and offers an integrated "5+3" enrollment program for TCM students.

The university adheres to the "dual-focus education" concept, with a range of reform initiatives such as the Scientific Research Practice Class and the Qi Huang National Medical Academy. Its educational achievements have won two first-place and four second-place national teaching awards, and its "Dual-Focus Education Model" is the only one in Jiangxi to receive a national first-place teaching award. The university has also pioneered the establishment of the Qi Huang National Medical Academy, initiating a new "academy-style" training model for high-level TCM clinical professionals.

JXUTCM has made significant contributions to research and innovation, receiving over 70 provincial and national awards in recent years. Notably, its research on "Heat-sensitive Moxibustion Technology" earned the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), and the university has been a leader in the modernization of TCM manufacturing. It has developed key technologies for the industrialization of TCM and solid dosage forms, which have been adopted by over 100 companies.

The university has focused on the national strategic demand for technological self-reliance and breakthroughs in scientific research. Its research on "Heat-sensitive Moxibustion Technology" and "Modernization of TCM Manufacturing" has achieved breakthroughs in the Jiangxi medical field, filling gaps in the industry. The university's technological innovations also include new veterinary medicine, with the approval of national-level new veterinary drugs.

JXUTCM has cultivated a highly innovative environment and has established one of China’s leading high-tech pharmaceutical companies, Jiangzhong (Pharmaceutical) Group. It has provided technical services to over 300 enterprises across the country, developing over 70 TCM and related products, with 16 achieving annual sales of over 100 million yuan. The university has won multiple awards for its industry-academia cooperation and was the only TCM university in Jiangxi to be included in the Top 50 list for university technology transfer.

As one of the first universities approved by the Ministry of Education to admit international students, JXUTCM has established long-term cooperation with more than 40 countries and regions. It has also founded China’s first high-end platform for providing TCM experiences to foreign dignitaries. The university has actively participated in foreign aid medical programs for 50 years, contributing to TCM centers in countries like Portugal, Sweden, and Canada. It has hosted high-level international events such as the World Traditional Chinese Medicine Conference and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Traditional Medicine Forum, contributing to global TCM knowledge exchange.
