Jingchu University of Technology(荆楚理工学院)

Established in March 2007 with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Jingchu University of Technology is a provincial full-time undergraduate institution formed through the merger of Jingmen Vocational and Technical College and Shayang Teachers’ College. With nearly 40 years of experience in higher education, the university is located in Jingmen City, Hubei Province, at the foot of Bailong Mountain, surrounded by picturesque scenery and rich cultural heritage.

Campus and Facilities

The university has a single campus covering over 2,400 mu (approximately 1.6 km²), with a building area of 384,900 square meters. It boasts modern teaching and research facilities valued at 199 million RMB, a library with 1.43 million printed books, 1.29 million e-books, and access to 38 digital resource databases. The campus is well-equipped with comprehensive infrastructure, including dormitories, sports fields, and a fully covered wireless network, offering a comfortable environment for study and research.

Academic Structure

The university consists of 16 schools and departments, offering 46 undergraduate programs across nine disciplines: science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, liberal arts, education, economics, management, and art. It serves over 19,000 full-time students, including 17,000 undergraduates. JUT operates 143 practical training bases, including two affiliated hospitals and other affiliated teaching institutions like schools and kindergartens.

The university employs over 1,000 full-time teachers, with over 400 holding senior professional titles and more than 800 possessing master’s or higher degrees. JUT boasts strong academic programs, including:

International Collaboration

The university has established partnerships with over 20 universities worldwide, such as Finland’s Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, the United States’ Long Island University, and France’s Caen University. JUT offers joint programs like a Digital Media Technology undergraduate program with Whitireia New Zealand, and English-medium courses in fields like dentistry and marketing.
