University of International Relations(国际关系学院)

The University of International Relations was founded in 1949 under the personal care of Premier Zhou Enlai, and is an institution of higher learning with a fine tradition. Over the years, Party and state leaders have attached great importance to and cared about the university's educational endeavors. Older-generation proletarian revolutionaries such as Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Deng Yingchao visited the campus on multiple occasions, conversing cordially with faculty and students, and showing immense care. Vice Premier Chen Yi personally inscribed the university's name. Central leaders including Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun, and Ye Jianying also issued important instructions regarding the university's construction and development across different historical periods.

The university previously hosted training classes for New China's first batch of "general ambassadors." In the 1950s, it pioneered a teaching method focused on contemporary foreign language learning. In 1964, it was designated as a national key university. In 1981, the university became one of the first institutions in the country authorized to confer master's degrees. In 1983, it took the lead in completing the transformation from a specialized foreign language institute into a multidisciplinary, comprehensive university.
