Acerca de la Universidad

Chizhou University is an application-oriented undergraduate institution with a focus on engineering and management, while also fostering coordinated development across disciplines such as humanities, sciences, economics, arts, education, law, and history. The university is located in Chizhou, a celebrated tourist city in Anhui Province, known as the "land of poets for a thousand years." It is a comprehensive provincial undergraduate institution.

Established in 1977, the university began as a junior college class under Anhui Labor University in the Chizhou region. It was renamed Chizhou Teachers College in 1980. Over the years, it merged with Chizhou Industrial School in 1999 and Anhui Economic and Trade School in 2002. In 2007, it was upgraded to Chizhou University. The university passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching evaluation in 2014 and the teaching review evaluation in 2019. It was subsequently designated as a provincial development institution for awarding master's degrees and, in 2024, was further prioritized as a key institution for this purpose.

Chizhou University aims to develop into a high-level, application-oriented local university with distinctive features. Guided by the motto “Learn from Confucius, Befriend Xingzhi”, the university adheres to principles of locality, openness, and application, with a student-centered and practice-oriented approach to education. It follows a competency-driven, foundationally sound, specialty-diversified, and cooperative talent cultivation model, emphasizing transformation, depth, and unique development.

The campus covers nearly 2,000 mu (approximately 133 hectares) with over 400,000 square meters of facilities. The university has teaching and research equipment valued at 220 million RMB, over 1.41 million printed books, 950,000 electronic books, 319 print journals, and 32 databases. It houses 11 secondary colleges and offers 54 undergraduate programs, forming professional clusters aligned with regional economic and social development. Notable achievements include 2 national-level first-class programs, 3 national-level characteristic programs (comprehensive reform pilot programs), 11 provincial-level first-class programs, and 14 provincial-level characteristic programs. The faculty consists of 773 members, including 266 professors and associate professors, with 742 holding master's or doctoral degrees. Over 50 staff members have been recognized as provincial academic leaders, teaching masters, or rising teaching stars. The university serves approximately 18,000 full-time students.

The university places great importance on fostering well-rounded talent, integrating moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. It emphasizes practical education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. Facilities include a national-level off-campus practice base for students, provincial demonstration laboratories, and provincial industry-university collaboration centers. Since 2013, the university's entrepreneurship incubation base has supported over 70 successful projects, with six generating annual sales exceeding 10 million RMB. In the past three years, over 800 student projects have been approved under national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship training programs.

Chizhou University prioritizes research excellence, supporting two provincial applied disciplines and seven provincial research platforms. It also has a postdoctoral research workstation and 14 city-level engineering technology centers. Recent achievements include over 120 national and provincial research projects and 500 industry-university collaborative projects, as well as several provincial awards for academic excellence.

Committed to community service, the university collaborates closely with the Chizhou municipal government, serving as a “local think tank” to support regional development. It has established various industry-specific colleges, including those focused on rural revitalization, big data, modern industries, and green chemistry.

Cultural education is a cornerstone, with the university leveraging local family tradition resources to build a Family Culture Museum and promote the integration of traditional culture on campus. This effort has produced notable individuals like Wang Yu (Anhui's first moral model) and Pan Shipeng (a national social welfare star). The campus environment fosters moral and academic growth through initiatives like "Alumni Avenue" and the annual "Teaching Festival."

Chizhou University is actively expanding its international presence, partnering with institutions in Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan. It promotes student and faculty exchanges, engages with "Belt and Road" countries, and began admitting international students in 2023, with four students joining in its first intake.
