College of Science and Technology Hunan University of Technology, is an independent college established by Hunan University of Technology following a new system and model. Hunan University of Technology is a comprehensive university with a history of over 60 years, and it is a "National Special Talent Development Program" university. The university specializes in packaging education, and it is the first institution in China to be accepted as a member by the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes (IAPRI). It is also the leading unit of the Packaging Education Committee of the China Packaging Federation and the only university in the country to hold the position of vice president of the China Packaging Federation and serve as the Chinese Packaging Technology Training Center.
The university has two campuses, covering a total area of 3,853.7 acres. The library has a total building area of 55,430.29 square meters, with a collection of over 2.83 million books. The university also has 21 national-level first-class undergraduate program construction points, 1 national-level professional comprehensive reform pilot, 5 national-level featured programs, 20 provincial-level first-class undergraduate program construction points, 6 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot programs, 11 provincial-level featured programs, and 5 provincial-level key programs.
The university has 5 national-level first-class undergraduate courses, 6 national-level精品 (resource-sharing) courses, 109 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, and 17 provincial-level精品 courses. The faculty consists of 2,820 staff members, including 1,917 full-time faculty members. Among them, 295 are professors, 679 are associate professors, and there are 575 master's and doctoral supervisors. The faculty includes two individuals selected for the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program," 1 "National Special Contribution Plan" teaching master, 8 individuals who enjoy special allowances from the State Council or Provincial Government, 3 "Furong Scholars" in Hunan Province, 1 Outstanding Expert in Hunan Province, 5 National Excellent Teachers, 4 Provincial Excellent Teachers, 3 Provincial Teaching Masters, 7 Provincial Outstanding Graduate Advisors, and 81 Provincial Young Key Teachers. The university also has Hunan Province's "Double First-Class Discipline" in Design and "Double First-Class Cultivating Discipline" in Materials Science and Engineering. It owns two national-level research platforms: "Advanced Packaging Materials R&D Technology National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center" and the "National Packaging Advertising Research Base." In addition, it has eight provincial-level key laboratories, including "Biomedical Nano Materials and Devices" and "Biomass Fiber Functional Materials." The university also boasts two provincial-level engineering laboratories, four provincial-level engineering research centers, three provincial-level "2011 Collaborative Innovation Centers," and 48 provincial and ministerial-level research platforms, such as the "Product Packaging Innovation Industrial Design Center" and the "Packaging Design Arts and Technology Research Base."
The Hunan University of Technology, School of Science and Technology was established in 2001 with approval from the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Hunan Province and is one of the first nationally recognized independent colleges. It is located in Zhuzhou, a city known as the "Power Valley" of Hunan Province, in a former industrial base. The college occupies an area of over 800 acres on the old campus of Hunan University of Technology, with beautiful surroundings, ample greenery, and excellent experimental and practical conditions. After enrolling, students will be registered electronically by the Ministry of Education. Upon completion of the program and meeting the academic requirements, they will be awarded an undergraduate diploma from Hunan University of Technology, School of Science and Technology. Students who meet the conditions for awarding a bachelor's degree will receive a bachelor's degree certificate from the college.
