Science and Technology College of Gannan Normal University is a full-time public higher education institution authorized by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, offering undergraduate-level degree programs (Institutional Code: 13439). It is an independent college under the administration of Gannan Normal University. Over the past 20 years, the college has adhered to Gannan Normal University's educational tradition of "rooted in the red soil, focusing on education" and maintained its mission of "promoting the spirit of the Soviet Area and training applied talents for the local economic and social development." The college has achieved significant educational accomplishments, earning honors such as being named a Model School for Legal Governance in the Province, an Advanced Collective for Ideological and Political Education in Provincial Universities, and an Outstanding Unit for Graduate Employment in Provincial Universities.
The college is located in Ganzhou, the central urban area of a national historic and cultural city in Jiangxi Province, which is renowned as the "Song Dynasty Capital of the South," the "Cradle of Hakka Culture," and the "Red Capital." The campus offers a beautiful environment, rich cultural heritage, and well-equipped teaching facilities. The college has 8 teaching departments and offers 26 undergraduate programs across 9 academic disciplines, including Law, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Economics, Management, Education, and Arts. It enrolls students from 13 provinces and cities nationwide, with over 5,100 full-time students currently enrolled.
The college employs over 300 full-time and part-time faculty members, forming a well-structured and high-quality teaching team. Many of the faculty members are dedicated to their teaching and have won various prestigious titles, such as "New Era Ganpo Pioneers," "Gold Medal Teachers" in Jiangxi Province, and "Good Teachers in the New Era in the Hearts of Students," as well as "Outstanding Party Members in the Province."
Over the past 20 years, the college has made remarkable progress in the development of its academic programs. In the 2022 second round of provincial comprehensive evaluations, 16 of the college's programs were evaluated, and all of them ranked among the top three in similar institutions across the province. Seven programs ranked first, and six ranked second. Among all undergraduate institutions in the province, the college had two programs in the top 30% and four in the top 50%.
The quality of education and the social reputation of the college have steadily improved. In the past three years, students have achieved great success in provincial and national academic competitions, with more than 1,000 awardees. Over 50 students received first prizes in national competitions such as the National Mathematical Modeling Contest, the "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate Academic and Scientific Works Competition, the National English Competition for College Students, and the National College Language and Literacy Competition. The number and level of awards are among the highest in similar institutions in the province. In 2023, the college’s swimming team won 8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze medals in the 16th Jiangxi Provincial Sports Games, securing first place in the Group B (Sports Department) overall team score for undergraduate universities.
Currently, the entire college is guided by Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It is committed to deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xi Jinping's important speech during his visit to Jiangxi.
