A Pillar of Education in Northeast China
Jiamusi University is located in Jiamusi City, a vibrant metropolis known for its ecological charm, nestled in the far northeast of China. Jiamusi, which was liberated in 1947, was once the capital of Hejiang Province (with Zhang Wentian as its first secretary), and played a key role as a stronghold during the Chinese Liberation War, often called "Little Yan'an of the Northeast." Now, Jiamusi serves as a regional center in northeastern Heilongjiang province and is strategically positioned in the heart of Northeast Asia's economic zone, acting as a gateway for cooperation with Russia. The city's transportation network is well-connected, with flights linking to major cities across China and high-speed rail intersections at Harbin-Jiamusi, Mudanjiang-Jiamusi, and Jiamusi-Hegang. The city sits in the Sanjiang Plain, home to one of the world's largest wetlands, the Sanjiang Wetland, as well as the famous Heixiazi Island and the unique Hezhen ethnic culture, all of which highlight the city's rich natural and cultural heritage. This area is also the birthplace of the "Beidahuang spirit" and an important national grain production base, marking it as one of the earliest places to greet the rising sun in China.
