Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) is a "Double First-Class" initiative university and an A-class high-level university under Jiangsu Province's High-Level University Construction Plan. Its predecessor, Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, was established in 1960 under the former Central (Military Commission) Meteorological Bureau, making it the first meteorological undergraduate institution in New China.
