Acerca de la Universidad

Shangrao Normal University is located in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, a city celebrated as an "abundantly rich ecological capital," a "thoroughfare in all directions," and the "First Gateway of Yuzhang" (an ancient name for Jiangxi).

The university’s predecessor was Shangrao Normal College, founded in 1958. It was renamed Northeast Jiangxi University in 1959, and re-established as Shangrao Normal College on the foundation of Northeast Jiangxi University in 1961. After being suspended during the "Cultural Revolution," it reopened in 1977 and was upgraded to Shangrao Normal University in 2000.

In 2022, it was selected as a key supported institution under the Ministry of Education's Collaborative Quality Improvement Plan for Normal Education. In 2024, it was successfully approved as a master's degree-awarding institution. That same year, it underwent the undergraduate education and teaching audit and evaluation by the Ministry of Education, where evaluation experts praised it as "a high ground for talent cultivation rooted in the old revolutionary areas of Jiangxi, serving Northeast Jiangxi, and a cradle for the backbone of basic education teaching and management."

With a clear development direction focused on "high-quality development, application-oriented transformation, connotative construction, and aligned services," the university aims to become a nationally renowned and provincially first-class high-level applied university, contributing its strength to the vigorous creation of the Jiangxi chapter of Chinese modernization.
