Today was Nick’s daughter’s birthday. David bought her a beautiful garment to wish her a happy birthday. At Nick’s house, David saw Nick’s wife for the first time. Nick’s wife cooks very well. She made many delicious dishes, and they all ate happily together.

语法点 Grammar Points

1.动词“离”:表示两个地方或物体之间存在距离。例如:

The verb“离”:it indicates that a distance exists between two places or objects. For example:

我们学校离你家很近。

Our school is very close to your home.

我家离机场不远。

My house isn’t far from the airport.

你的眼睛离电脑太近了。

Your eyes are too close to the computer.

 

2.时间名词“前”:表示某个时间或某个动作以前的时间。例如:

The time noun“前”: it indicates a time prior to a specific time or action. For example:

七点前给我打电话。

Call me before seven o’clock.

我是一个小时前回来的。

I came back one hour ago.

吃饭前要洗手。

We have to wash our hands before eating.

 

3.副词“就”:用在表示时间的词语后,表示说话人认为动作发生得早、快或用的时间少。“就”在句中轻读,句尾经常用“了”。例如:

The adverb“就”: it is used after words which indicate time to express the speaker’s belief that the action took place early, quickly or that little time was needed. “就” is pronounced in a neutral tone and is commonly accompanied by “了” at the end of the sentence. For example:

走路十几分钟就到了。

Walking here takes just a little over ten minutes.

我们两个月前就认识了。

We met more than two months ago.

他去年就开始学习中文了。

He started learning Chinese last year.

 

4.“听……说过”:在需要说明信息来源的时候,可以在“听说”中间插入信息来源人,同时用“过”表示曾经发生。例如:

“听……说过”: When we need to indicate the source of the information, we can insert the person who is this source within “听说” and also use “过” to indicate that it has already taken place. For example:

我听尼克说过,你们两个月前就认识了。

I’ve heard Nick saying that you two met more than two months ago.

我听妈妈说过,北京很好。

I’ve heard my mom saying that Beijing is very nice.

大卫听莎莉说过,跑步对身体很好。

David heard Sally saying that running is good for our health.

 

5.动量补语“一次”:在句中做动量补语,当动量补语与表示确定的人、物或地点的宾语同时出现时,可以宾语在前,也可以补语在前。例如:

The complement of frequency“一次”: it acts as a complement of frequency. When both a complement of frequency and an object indicating a certain person, thing or place are present in a sentence at the same time, the object may be placed either before or after the complement. For example:

我来过您家一次。= 我来过一次您家。

I’ve been to your house once. = I’ve been once to your house.

我去过北京一次。= 我去过一次北京。

I’ve been in Beijing once. = I’ve been once in Beijing.

我找过老师两次。= 我找过两次老师。

I’ve looked for the teacher twice. = I’ve looked twice for the teacher.
