Damp Squib

Yuánběn chōngmǎn xīwàng, dàn shìshí ràng rén shīwàng; chéngxìng ér lái, bàixìng ér guī
【解释】An event which people think will be exciting but which is disappointing when it happens.
【例句】
- I expected too much from this opportunity. It proved to be just a damp squib.
