Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology(重庆城市科技学院)

Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology is a full-time private undergraduate institution. Established in 2005, its predecessor was the Chongqing University of Science and Technology. In December 2020, it was officially approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed as Chongqing City University of Science and Technology.

The university has two campuses: Yongchuan and Banan. The Yongchuan campus is located at the foot of the famous Tea Mountain Bamboo Sea scenic area, and the Banan campus is situated in the vocational education zone of Banan District. The university currently has more than 36,000 students. The campuses are surrounded by mountains and rivers, with lush flowers and trees, making it a beautiful and ideal place for study. The university boasts excellent educational facilities and a rich library resource that meets the learning needs of all students. All classrooms in the teaching buildings are equipped with multimedia systems and some feature smart classroom technology. There are more than 120 professional laboratories in civil engineering, electrical and information engineering, mechanical design, business management, media arts, humanities and social sciences, artificial intelligence, and big data, along with 8 engineering training centers, creating a good environment for training application-oriented talents.

To ensure the quality of talent cultivation, the university has a teaching supervision committee composed of well-known experts and professors from Chongqing University. The committee guides, supervises, and evaluates various aspects such as curriculum design, course arrangements, teaching processes, and educational quality.

The university aligns its academic programs with national and regional economic and social development needs, continuously optimizing its academic disciplines. Currently, the university offers 45 undergraduate programs covering seven major fields: engineering, management, economics, literature, law, arts, and education. The academic structure aims to meet the national and Chongqing regional economic and social development needs, with a focus on engineering and management, and a multidisciplinary approach involving engineering, management, economics, literature, law, arts, and education. The university has established a three-tier system for developing first-class and specialized programs at the national, municipal, and university levels. It currently has 8 first-class programs at the university level, and 5 specialized programs in architectural design, civil engineering, electrical engineering, engineering cost, and software engineering at the municipal level. The civil engineering, engineering cost, and electrical engineering programs have met the qualifications for the National “Double Ten Thousand Plan” professional development.

Guided by Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, the university fully implements the Party’s educational policies, adheres to socialist educational values, and focuses on cultivating talent with solid foundations, strong abilities, and high quality. Since its founding, the university has provided over 60,000 graduates to society, contributing to the economic and social development of Chongqing and the southwest region with talent, intelligence, and knowledge. In 2016, the university was awarded the title of "Advanced Private Educational Institution in Chongqing" and the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Culture Construction Award of Private Universities in Chongqing." In 2018, it was recognized as a model university for legal education and smart campus construction in Chongqing. Since 2013, the university has consistently ranked first among similar institutions nationwide in terms of application popularity, and from 2015 to 2020, it ranked first in Chongqing for six consecutive years. It has been recognized by Xinhua Net, CCTV, and other media outlets as one of the "Annual Brand Influence Independent Colleges" and "Annual Brand Strength Independent Colleges," and was awarded a "Five-Star Independent College" rating in 2020. From 2021 to 2022, the university was named "Comprehensive Strength Private University" for two consecutive years and was recognized as an "Advanced Collective of Fire Safety" in 2022.
