Jiaxing Xueyuan Nanhu Xueyuan(嘉兴南湖学院)

Jiaxing Xueyuan Nanhu Xueyuan, is a full-time public undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Jiaxing Municipal Government. It was originally founded in 2003 as the Nanhu College of Jiaxing University. In December 2020, the university successfully transitioned and was renamed Jiaxing Nanhu University, becoming the first application-oriented university in Zhejiang Province to complete the transformation from an independent college. It is also the only municipally funded public undergraduate university in Jiaxing.

Located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, the university sits in the northeastern part of the province, at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta. Jiaxing is known as the birthplace of the Chinese Revolution's "Red Boat," the origin of Jiangnan culture, and the permanent host city for the World Internet Conference. The city is a model for high-quality development and a demonstration area for common prosperity in Zhejiang Province, with plans to develop into an important center city in the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration.

The university spans over 900 acres (with a planned area of more than 300 acres) and is composed of 13 academic departments, offering 32 undergraduate programs across seven disciplines: engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and more. The university currently serves over 8,800 full-time undergraduate students and employs over 670 staff members, including nearly 470 full-time faculty members. Approximately 30% of the faculty hold senior technical positions, and the staff includes experts such as State Council Special Allowance recipients, National Teaching Achievement Award winners, and prominent scholars like those recognized as Zhejiang Province’s First-Level Talent and Zhejiang Province’s Zhijiang Young Scholars. One of the faculty members was named to the global Top 2% of scientists in the field of mechanical engineering for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023).

Jiaxing University has two provincial first-class disciplines and five provincial first-class program construction points. It has been approved for two provincial key experimental teaching demonstration centers and four Jiaxing municipal key laboratories. The university has also established eight research institutes, including the Rural Talent and Family Tradition Research Institute and the China-Africa Civil Cooperation Research Institute. Additionally, it has 11 provincial-level experimental teaching centers, and its teaching equipment is valued at over 100 million yuan. The university has been awarded more than 160 municipal or higher-level research projects and has completed over 200 industry collaboration projects. Its students have earned over 1,200 awards in provincial and national competitions, with more than 470 awards in Class A competitions. The university also supports 70 projects under the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for college students. Its library holds over 910,000 paper books and more than 570,000 digital books.

The university is committed to an open educational approach and has established comprehensive strategic partnerships with various local and international organizations, including the Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Zhejiang University, the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and companies like Qisheng Technology Co., Ltd. and Jiaxing Haihua Martial Arts School. These partnerships foster in-depth collaboration between the university and local industries.

Focusing on the Jiaxing region, serving Zhejiang, and expanding into the Yangtze River Delta and nationwide, Jiaxing University has, in its 20 years of undergraduate education, cultivated over 35,000 high-quality application-oriented talents, significantly enhancing its impact as an applied university. Among its students, many have been recognized as exemplary figures such as the "New Generation of Strong Nation Youth," "National Self-Reliance Stars," and "Zhejiang Province Advanced Volunteers." The university’s "University-Enterprise Doctoral Shared Program," which integrates education, science, and talent, was featured on the Ministry of Science and Technology's official website. Jiaxing University has also been highlighted in major media outlets, including China Education Daily and China Youth Daily, for its educational achievements and innovations such as the immersive red-themed drama "Nanhu • 1921" and other original works like "How the Youth of China Can Shape China's Future" and "Liangjiahe Song Cycle."

The university is resolutely committed to preserving its "red roots" and political responsibility, centering its development on the themes of "Red Gene, Innovative Development, Collaborative Win-Win, and Moral Education." It has implemented three major strategies: the "Red Boat Leading University," the "Urban Symbiosis University," and the "Industry Partner University."
