Jilin Normal University (JLNU), a key university in Jilin Province, was established in 1958. Located in Siping City, the “heroic city” in the heart of the Songliao Plain, it was originally named Siping Normal Junior College. In September 1962, Tonghua Normal Junior College and Baicheng Normal Junior College were merged into it. In February 1966, JLNU merged with Jilin Normal Junior College, forming the new Siping Normal Junior College. In November 1973, it was renamed Siping Normal College.
