Teaching and Educating, Passing on the Flame. Mudanjiang Normal University is an institution of excellence recognized by the Ministry of Education for its teaching quality. It is authorized to confer Master's degrees and was founded in 1958, evolving through four developmental stages: the Nenjiang Branch of Northeast Agricultural College, Beinan Normal College, Ning'an Normal College, and finally Mudanjiang Normal University. With 37 years of history in rural education and 66 years of arduous educational development, Mudanjiang Normal University upholds the spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army—"not fearing hardship, bravely facing national crises, and daring to take responsibility"—and has cultivated the "Great Wilderness" spirit of "hard work, selfless dedication, unyielding self-improvement, and striving for innovation." The university is rooted in the border region, serving Heilongjiang Province, with a history of over half a century of development. It has become the largest and most comprehensive provincial institution in the southeastern part of Heilongjiang, with a strong academic foundation, complete range of disciplines, and clear characteristics in teacher education and applied fields.

The university adheres to the Party's comprehensive leadership, rule of law in education, and a focus on “people-oriented, moral education first” principles, fulfilling its mission of "educating people for the Party, cultivating talent for the country." It has trained a large number of teachers in basic education with social responsibility, innovative spirit, practical ability, healthy bodies and minds, specialized knowledge, and a commitment to the border regions.

Solid Foundation, Deep Accumulation. The university covers 683,500 square meters, with a building area of 350,600 square meters and total assets of 1.227 billion RMB. The value of teaching and research instruments is 212 million RMB. It has 33 smart classrooms, 169 high-definition multimedia classrooms, and 493 laboratories. The 22,000-square-meter teacher training building is nearing completion. The library holds over 1.87 million paper books and 2.36 million e-books.

Rational Disciplines, Excellent Faculty. The university employs 1,245 staff, including 482 with senior titles (130 professors, 352 associate professors), 972 faculty members with Master’s and Doctoral degrees (including 184 PhD holders and 788 Master's degree holders). Currently, there are 65 doctoral students, 3 recipients of government special allowances, 9 D-level and 2 E-level high-level talents in Heilongjiang, 12 second-level professors, and 14 provincial-level teaching experts. The university offers 58 undergraduate programs, 9 Master's degree programs in primary disciplines, 37 secondary disciplines, and 5 professional Master's categories, covering 18 fields, including education, engineering, and science.

Party Leadership, Accelerating Progress. The university has innovatively implemented the “Five-Element Project” to improve the quality of grassroots Party building, promoting the “Three Comparisons, Three Views, and Three Enhancements” action. The Snowfield Heroic Spirit Party-building brand was approved at the provincial level, cultivating 22 Party-building brands, including “Six Threes,” “Iron Team Pioneer,” and “Big and Small Hands Hold Hands—Party Building Nurtures Children's Hearts.” There are 2 “National Model Party Branches,” 1 provincial-level model Party branch construction project, 2 provincial-level “Hundred Excellent” Party branches, 1 provincial-level Party-building demonstration site.

Strong Internal Development, Rich Achievements. The university successfully completed the pilot task for the new round of undergraduate education and teaching review in the province, becoming the only university in the province approved for the collaborative quality enhancement plan. The university now has 5 national-level first-class undergraduate programs, 1 special program, 1 pilot reform program, 9 first-class courses, 12 provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs, 2 provincial key disciplines, 2 provincial "Double First-Class" disciplines, 3 pilot reform programs, 3 teaching teams, 49 first-class courses, 14 excellent courses, 1 provincial philosophy and social science innovation project, 3 key laboratories, 2 provincial engineering and technology research centers, and 3 experimental teaching demonstration centers.

Distinctive Features, Outstanding Achievements. The university leverages its strengths in Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army research, Bohai culture studies, minority language and local dialect protection, and local development services. It has been approved as the National Anti-Japanese United Army Research Center, Heilongjiang Province Key Marxist Institute, and many other honors, including the National Language and Writing Standardization Demonstration School and the National Language and Writing Promotion Base.

Opening Northward, Deepening Exchanges. The university has established friendly cooperation with four Russian universities, attracting 5 foreign academicians. It has set up the China-Russia International "Functional Materials" Physical Joint Laboratory, the "China-Russia Rural Education Research" international team, and the "China-Russia Normal Education Virtual Research Center." It has organized several international events, including the International Chinese Poetry Contest and the Rural Education and Teacher Education Research International Academic Exchange Conference. The university has 52 international partner institutions and cooperates with over 30 universities worldwide for credit recognition.
