Xidian University, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, dedicates primarily to the electronics and information education and research, with an integration of a wide range of academic subjects covering engineering, science, management, economy, arts and social sciences.
IT is one of the universities funded by Project 211 and Project 985 Innovation Platform for Superiority Subject, one of the universities funded by Project 2011 that is National Collaborative Innovation Plan, and one of the first 35 universities having a national demonstration School of Software, as well as one of the first 9 universities having a national demonstration School of Microelectronics. It is an essential base of IT talents training and high level scientific research innovation.
In the fields of communication networks, signal and information processing, information security, microelectronics and mechatronics, Xidian possesses distinctive advantages and features in cultivation and scientific research at home and abroad. In the national assessment of the first-level disciplines in China in 2017, the result of the discipline “information and communication engineering” is A+, ranking the first, “electronic science and technology” ranked Top 5% and “computer science and technology” ranked Top 10%.
Facing with urgent needs of inculcation of values both from abroad and at home and adapting to demands of employers of source countries, Xidian gives full play of its advantages in both disciplines and collaboration with enterprises to provide unique personnel training to each student (recruitment-cultivation-employment) based on his/her own needs. In order to cultivate students’ initiative learning and promote their comprehensive capability in design and innovation, School has gradually formed a diversifiedand characteristicindependent-interactive teaching method which well integrates four aspects of study, i.e. theoretical studies, participation in practical activities, sills training, and innovation. Meanwhile, four core areas, namely situational teaching, problem-based teaching, discussion-based teaching and encouraging evaluation are emphasized in class.
Xidian University attaches great importance to building a faculty team for high-level oversea students. We have established a strict system to select supervisors for oversea master and doctoral students. Students are encouraged to participate in their supervisor’s research projects to train advanced innovative talents demanded by enterprises.
