水仙花的故事
纳西瑟斯是河神与水神的儿子。纳西瑟斯出生后，河神向着名的预言家询问了自己儿子的命运。预言家说，纳西瑟斯只要不看到自己的脸，就能够长寿。
虽然纳西瑟斯长大后，成为全希腊最俊美的男子。但他却从不知道自己长什么样子。纳西瑟斯英俊的外貌让全希腊的女性为之疯狂，但他拒绝所有前来求爱的女人。后来，连仙女厄科也被他的外貌迷住，但纳西瑟斯同样拒绝了厄科的求爱，导致厄科伤心而死。其他的仙女听到厄科死后，既伤心又生气，决定惩罚纳西瑟斯。他们变出了一面湖水，纳西瑟斯赶路回家时，突然觉得口渴，就到湖边喝水。纳西瑟斯在湖面上看到了自己的倒影。竟然爱上了自己，无法离开，憔悴而死。预言家的预言最后实现了，而在纳西瑟斯死去的湖边长出了一株水仙花。

The Story of Narcissus
Narcissus was the son of a river god and a water goddess. After Narcissus was born, the river god asked a famous prophet about his son's fate. The prophet said that as long as Narcissus did not see his own face, he would be able to live a long life.
Although Narcissus grew up to become the most handsome man in all of Greece, he never knew what he looked like. Narcissus’s handsome appearance drove all the women in Greece crazy, but he rejected all the women who came to court him. Later, even the nymph Echo was captivated by his appearance, but Narcissus also rejected Echo’s love, causing her to die of heartbreak. The other nymphs, after hearing of Echo’s death, were both sad and angry and decided to punish Narcissus.
They created a body of water. When Narcissus was hurrying home, he suddenly felt thirsty and went to the lakeside to drink water. Narcissus saw his reflection on the surface of the lake and fell in love with himself. Unable to leave, he wasted away and died. The prophet’s prediction was finally fulfilled, and a narcissus flower grew by the lake where Narcissus died.
