College of Technology, Hubei Engineering University is an independent undergraduate institution approved by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education in March 2003 and confirmed by the Ministry of Education in February 2004. It is hosted by Hubei Engineering University. The college is located in the satellite city of Wuhan, Xiangyang, the hometown of the filial son Dong Yong from Chinese folklore, in Xiangyang City, about 45 kilometers from Wuhan and 30 kilometers from Tianhe Airport. The city is well-connected by transportation, with the Jingguang and Han-Yu railways, National Highways 107 and 316, as well as the Jingzhu and Han-Sha Expressways passing through Xiangyang, and direct intercity trains linking the city to Wuhan.

The college relies on the quality educational resources of Hubei Engineering University and, in line with market and societal needs, offers six academic departments: the Department of Language and Literature, Department of Finance, Law, and Politics, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Urban Construction, Department of Biochemistry, and Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The college offers 36 undergraduate programs and 24 diploma programs. Most programs benefit from the strengths and specialized areas of Hubei Engineering University, offering broad career prospects. The Biochemical Engineering program is a key (development) undergraduate project of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. The Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering programs have been approved for the Strategic Emerging Industry Talent Cultivation Program of Hubei Province. The Computer Science and Technology program has been recognized as a "Hubei Province Outsourcing Talent Training Base." Six courses—"Marketing," "Typography and Layout Design," "Principles of Concrete Structures," "Principles of Management," "Computer Networks," and "Translation Theory and Practice"—have been certified as provincial-level first-class courses. Additionally, the "Computer Science and Technology" program has been approved as a provincial-level first-class program, and the school has been granted one provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organization.

Currently, the college has nearly 10,000 enrolled students, including 253 full-time faculty members and 130 external faculty members.

In recent years, the college has focused on improving its internal development, advancing its transformation, and deepening educational reforms. The college fully implements the Party’s and the country’s educational policies, adheres to the socialist direction of education, and follows the principles of "people-centered education, moral education first; rooted in the local context, cultivating distinctive features; innovating mechanisms and exploring development." With a focus on engineering and technical disciplines, the college promotes coordinated development across multiple disciplines and strives to cultivate high-level applied professionals with strong practical abilities to serve regional economic development and social service needs. The college regularly invites renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad to give lectures, guiding students to engage in academic research, cultural and artistic activities, competitions, social practices, and volunteer work.
