Fuzhou Institute of Technology is a full-time, regular undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education, established by the high-tech listed company Guomai Technology Co., Ltd. The school traces its origins back to Fuzhou Straits Vocational and Technical College, founded in 2004, and was upgraded to a regular undergraduate institution in 2015 following approval from the Ministry of Education. In 2023, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation. Since its founding, the school has fully implemented the educational policies of the Communist Party of China, adhered to the socialist direction of education, and adapted to the needs of modern higher education development and regional economic and social progress. The school insists on a "local and applied" educational positioning and strives to cultivate engineers and management talents with a sense of social responsibility, technological innovation spirit, and industrial service capabilities, promoting the comprehensive development of students in morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor.
The school is a recognized pilot project by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education for the transformation of general undergraduate institutions into applied institutions. In its educational practices, the school consistently follows the path of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, aligning with the needs of industrial and regional economic development. It has innovated systems and mechanisms for industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and created the "Three-in-One Industry-Education Integration Technology Park" platform, supported by the government, with the school as the main body and enterprises at the core. The school has also established a research and development model focused on "Technology Innovation + High-end Manufacturing" and formed a teaching and research innovation team consisting of "Lecturers + Engineers + Technical Shareholders." This model has been recognized by national leaders as a collaborative innovation model for industry-education integration.
Academic Programs:
The school actively builds an applied academic program system that coordinates disciplines in engineering, science, economics, management, medicine, and the arts, with local and industry-specific characteristics. There are currently seven colleges: the School of Computer and Information Science, the School of Electronics Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Media and Arts, the School of Nursing, and the School of Marxism. The school offers 31 undergraduate programs and has over 11,600 enrolled students. It has one provincial-level modern industrial college, two provincial-level applied disciplines, four provincial-level first-class undergraduate program construction points, two provincial-level industry-specific programs, one provincial-level exemplary applied program group, and four provincial-level university innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot programs. It focuses on constructing an applied talent cultivation system based on the "Three-Dimensional Core" of industry-education integration. The school has established a series of "Four Real" teaching bases that bring industry standards, vocational standards, and professional standards into the school’s curriculum platform. It integrates real corporate environments, engineering projects, work processes, and actual production products into the teaching process, aligning educational specifications with industry standards, teaching content with engineering practice, and teaching methods with work processes. The school also has 174 off-campus practice bases, fostering deeper industry experience, improving professional skills, and expanding knowledge. The overall level and quality of students continue to improve, with graduates being highly sought after by employers. The annual average employment rate of graduates remains above 94%.
