Overview of Jilin University

Jilin University (JLU) is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China, located in Changchun, Jilin Province. Established in 1946, it was designated as a national key university in 1960 and became one of the first 22 universities in China to establish graduate schools in 1984. JLU is a participant in the "211 Project," "985 Project," and the first batch of universities included in the "Double First-Class" initiative.

Academic and Disciplinary Strength

JLU encompasses 52 teaching units and spans 13 academic disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, arts, and interdisciplinary studies. It offers:

  • 49 doctoral degree programs in first-level disciplines.
  • 7 master’s degree programs in first-level disciplines.
  • 11 doctoral professional degree programs and 25 master’s professional degree programs.
  • 8 emerging interdisciplinary degree programs.

Campus and Library

JLU’s campuses cover 7.3459 million square meters, with a building area of 2.8895 million square meters. The university’s Zhuhai Institute spans an additional 1.5035 million square meters. Its library houses 8.1137 million volumes, serving as:
