Keyi College of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a full-time independent undergraduate college focused on cultivating high-quality applied talents through multidisciplinary coordinated development. Established in 2000, the college began enrolling undergraduates from Zhejiang Province and received confirmation from the Ministry of Education in 2004. In 2006, the college moved its operations to Cangqian in Hangzhou, and in 2012, it was granted the authority to confer bachelor's degrees. In September 2017, the college relocated to Shaoxing Shangyu for further development. In 2019, it passed the provincial-level accreditation for independent college regulations in Zhejiang. By September 2022, the student enrollment surpassed 10,000.
1. Comprehensive Campus Facilities
The college is located in the Hangzhou Bay Shangyu Economic and Technological Development Zone in Shaoxing City, covering 550 acres, with a total building area of 262,000 square meters. The first phase of the new campus, which cost around 1.3 billion RMB, was completed with a "turnkey" construction. The second phase, with a building area of 30,000 square meters and an investment of 180 million RMB, was completed and put into use in September 2022, laying a solid foundation for expanding the college’s scale.
Key buildings on the campus include the library, training gym, athletic fields, student activity center, auditorium, administrative building, teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, science building, art building, bell tower, history museum, and dormitory buildings. The teaching area includes 117 multimedia classrooms, 6 smart classrooms with a total of 12,417 seats, 5 language labs with 187 seats, and 17 general computer labs with 1,106 seats. The college also boasts 10 experimental teaching centers, including provincial-level centers in both experimental teaching and qualification. The sports facilities include an indoor training gym, standard track and field, football fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts, table tennis rooms, martial arts rooms, and dance classrooms. Dormitories are equipped with independent laundry rooms, centralized hot water systems, direct drinking water systems, smart security management systems, and electricity management systems. The college collaborates with the local police station to establish a campus security station.
The library has a construction area of 19,000 square meters, spread across 10 floors, with 10 reading rooms including books, journals, reference materials, and an electronic reading room. Other specialized areas include information-sharing spaces, 3D art spaces, leisure reading areas, and seminar rooms. The library currently holds 1.1 million physical books, 588 journals, and provides access to 45 digital databases.
2. Well-Established Organizational Structure
The college has a range of internal departments including the Office (Development and Planning, International Cooperation), the Organization Department (United Front Work, General Party Branch), the Publicity Department (Faculty Work), the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office (Audit), Student Affairs (Enrollment and Employment Guidance, Military Affairs, Alumni Affairs), Academic Affairs (Teaching Development Center), Research Office (School-Industry Cooperation), Human Resources, Financial Department, Asset and Laboratory Management (Procurement Center), Information Technology Center, Public Affairs (Security), Logistics Service Center, Labor Union, Women’s Federation, Youth League Committee, and more.
There are 8 secondary colleges including the School of Textiles and Clothing, School of Information and Control, School of Economics and Management (Entrepreneurship School), School of Art and Design, School of Humanities and International Exchange (Marxist College), School of Architecture and Engineering, Sports Teaching and Research Department, and Continuing Education College. Additionally, the library is a direct unit under the college.
3. Strong Faculty Team
The college has over 500 staff members, including 429 full-time faculty and 47 counselors. There are 132 senior faculty members, 16 with doctoral degrees, and 86.87% of faculty members hold master’s degrees or higher. In recent years, the college has won numerous awards for teaching excellence, including national "Advanced Individuals in Teacher Ethics" and "151 Talent Project" scholars from Zhejiang Province. It also has multiple recipients of prestigious national and provincial-level teaching awards, and several faculty members have won international design awards such as the Red Dot Award and the International IF Product Design Award.
4. Comprehensive Academic Disciplines
The college currently offers 31 undergraduate programs (or directions) across seven major disciplines: science, engineering, arts, economics, management, law, and humanities. The programs focus on textiles, clothing, and art design, forming a multidisciplinary layout with coordinated development. Key programs include Electronic Information Engineering, Business Administration, Product Design, Animation, and Textile Engineering, all of which are considered top programs in the province. Additionally, the college offers emerging disciplines such as Human Resources Management and Product Design, which are also provincially recognized. The Art and Design department is a key construction program in the province, while the Computer Science and Design programs have been classified as first-class disciplines at the provincial level. The Art and Design Experimental Teaching Center is a key provincial-level construction project.
The college has led numerous national and provincial teaching and curriculum innovation projects, published 17 books, and earned more than 130 patents. Additionally, it has received recognition for achieving outstanding outcomes in innovation and entrepreneurship education, having hosted 50 national and provincial projects.
5. Complete Talent Cultivation System
The college enrolls students from 11 provinces and municipalities across China, with over 10,700 students currently. It emphasizes cultivating high-quality applied talents with a solid foundation, strong capabilities, and a sense of social responsibility and innovation. The talent cultivation model integrates general education, professional education, and personalized education, implemented through a credit system. The flexible academic system allows students to complete their studies in 3-6 years. Graduates who meet the degree and credit requirements are awarded a Bachelor's degree certificate from Keyi College of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.
The college also focuses on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship skills through dedicated modules, a labor education course, practical training, elective courses, and extracurricular activities.
6. Impressive Competitive Achievements
Each year, the college wins over 100 awards in national, provincial, and municipal academic competitions. It was recognized as the “Advanced Collective in Zhejiang Province for University Student Science and Technology Competitions” in 2013 and listed as a "Pilot College for Strengthening Applied Talent Development" by Zhejiang Province in 2015. The college has achieved top awards in various competitions such as the Zhejiang Province University Student Photography Contest, Multimedia Design Contest, and Electronic Design Contest. The "Challenge Cup" series has earned provincial and national-level awards, and the college's summer "Three Rural Campaign" social practice has received widespread media attention. In sports, the college's female football team, sports dance team, table tennis team, and track and field teams have earned top positions in provincial and national competitions.
7. Solid Progress in Party Building and School-Local Integration
Since moving to Shangyu, the college has worked closely with local industries and the local government to optimize its academic structure and introduce new programs such as Applied Chemistry, Hotel Management, Digital Media Arts, and Administrative Management. The college has initiated 125 social service projects with a research funding of over 19 million RMB, and built collaborative internship bases with local government and businesses.
In 2022, the college was selected as a pilot unit for the "Four Integrations" in university party building in Zhejiang Province. Its efforts in guiding the development of school-government collaboration have been recognized with an award for “Moral Education Achievements” from Shaoxing City, and the college’s party-building innovation case was featured in China Education News.
