About University

Taizhou University is a master's degree granting institution established with the approval of the Ministry of Education, implementing a provincial and municipal co-management and city-based education system. Its educational origins can be traced back to 1907, and it was selected as a pilot demonstration university for applied construction in Zhejiang Province in 2019. In 2020, it was ranked among the top ten applied universities in China.

The university operates across two campuses, Jiaojiang and Linhai. It covers a total area of nearly 1,720 mu (approximately 283 acres), with a building floor area of about 650,000 square meters. The total value of its teaching and research equipment is approximately 556 million yuan.

The library holds a physical collection of over 2.5 million paper books. The university is affiliated with 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 5 affiliated schools (kindergartens), and 4 wholly-owned enterprises, ensuring excellent conditions for teaching and operation amidst a beautiful campus environment. It comprises 18 secondary schools and has a total enrollment of over 17,000 full-time undergraduate and master's students.

The university adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school through talent cultivation and continuously refines its "1+X" policy framework. It has established an advanced research institution as a "pilot zone" for reform and built a teaching faculty of nearly 1,300 members with a well-structured and dynamic composition. The university has achieved continuous breakthroughs in attracting high-level talent. It boasts 7 national-level talents, including individuals selected for key national programs, and over 40 provincial and ministerial-level talents, including those recognized under the Provincial 151 Talent Program. The faculty includes more than 820 individuals with doctoral degrees, and 22 faculty members have been listed among the world's top 2% of scientists.

The university adheres to the integrated development of disciplines, academic degree programs, and professional degree programs. It currently offers 17 master's degree authorization points and has 6 provincial first-class disciplines. The university is home to 1 provincial leading innovation and entrepreneurship team and 1 high-level university innovation team. It also hosts 14 provincial key laboratories, engineering technology research centers, and key industrial technology alliances, as well as 1 national expert service base and 1 postdoctoral research station. Six disciplines rank among the top 1% in the ESI global rankings. Disciplines such as Ecology, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Materials Science and Engineering have been included in the "China High-level Disciplines" list of the Research Alumni Association Rankings.

Ecology, Materials Science and Engineering have entered the top 500 in the Soft Science World First-Class Discipline Rankings. In recent years, the number of National Natural Science Foundation projects approved by the university ranks among the top of similar universities in the province. The university offers 51 undergraduate programs, with engineering majors accounting for nearly 50%. It boasts 2 national characteristic programs, 3 national first-class undergraduate program construction sites, and 11 provincial first-class undergraduate program construction sites. Ten programs have passed national certification. The university has been approved for 1 provincial textbook construction research base, 8 provincial talent training bases, and 9 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers.

The university steadfastly promotes the internationalization of education as a key strategy. advancing open education and broadening the horizons of its faculty and students. In collaboration with California State University, San Bernardino, it has established the Taizhou University San Bernardino Institute of Technology, which offers undergraduate programs in Applied Chemistry, Biological Sciences, and Environmental and Ecological Engineering. It jointly trains Master of Nursing students with California Baptist University and cooperates with New Mexico State University in cultivating talent in Civil Engineering. The university also engages in "2+2" and "3+1" collaborative programs for undergraduate students with universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and other countries. It has enrolled and educated over 500 degree-seeking students from more than 50 countries. The university maintains friendly exchange relationships with over 50 overseas universities and institutions. Its alumni are spread across the globe, with many having become doctoral supervisors, entrepreneurs, and key leaders in various party and government organizations.
