Xiamen University of Technology(厦门理工学院)

Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT) was founded as Lujiang Vocational University in 1981, and became a four-year university renamed as Xiamen University of Technology in 2004 approved by MOE China. We are a National Base for Engineer Training selected by MOE, and a first pilot university accredited to confer Master’s degree for programs meeting special needs of China since 2011.Besides the successful passage of the Undergraduate Teaching Assessment in 2012,  we are a tier-one university by Fujian Provincial Province since 2013, one of the 100 model universities of applied studies & research for industry-academy cooperation since 2016, and one of the first 99 national pilot and model universities for entrepreneurship and innovation since 2017.

XMUT is currently composed of 19 schools including School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, School of Materials Science & Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering & Automation, School of Optoelectronic & Communication Engineering (School of Microelectronics), School of Computer & Information Engineering, School of Civil Engineering & Architecture, School of Environmental Science & Engineering, School of Design Art & Fashion Engineering, School of Economics &Management (School of Strait Business & Trade), School of Cultural Industries & Tourism, School of Digital Arts & Communication, School of Applied Mathematics, School of International Languages, School of Marxism, School of Software Engineering, International College, College of Continuing Education, Graduate School and Department of Physical Education.

 

XMUT is accredited by MOE to award master’s degrees in vehicle engineering and electrical engineering in addition to 56 bachelor’s degree programs covering science, engineering, economics, management, humanity, art and law. We have 20508 students including 284 graduate students and 113 overseas students, and 1061 faculty members.

 

XMUT has strong engineering, deep economics/management and broad cultural studies for discipline and program distribution and development. Our eight disciplinary clusters of electronic(microelectronic and optoelectronic) information, equipment manufacturing, software & information services, applied materials technology, urban/rural development & environmental protection, cultural industries, creation design, and financial services & logistics), five provincial key disciplines of mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, electrical engineering, optical engineering, and computer science & technology, and 15 university-level key disciplines are strategically linked to the ten 100-billion yuan industrial chains in Xiamen.

 

XMUT students have been doing excellently in national and international academic competitions since 2014, bringing back nearly 1100 national prizes so far topping the province for the past three successive years.  There are 160 grand, gold and first prizes for national competitions like China Internet Plus Collegiate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest, Formula SAE in China and World,   National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, Electronic Design, Structural Design, English Skills, Construction Quantity Calculation, Logistics Design, and Robotics, among which are sustained champions for years for Formula SAE, Construction Quantity Calculation, and Logistics Design.

With a mission to best prepare the students and best serve the industry, XMUT strives to prepare competent graduates who contribute to the strategic growth of the booming industries, the Beautiful Xiamen, and the Economic Zone in Xiamen and Haix.

We have productive exchanges with 54 universities from over 20 countries including US, UK, Canada, Australia and others. They include student and faculty exchanges, progression undergraduates and graduates programs, programs for incoming overseas students as well as Fujian-Taiwan undergraduate programs.
