Overview & History

Zhengzhou University of Finance and Economics is a private, regular undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Its foundation was the Zhengzhou Economic Management School, established in 1997. It became a junior-college level institution named Zhengzhou Economics and Trade Vocational College in 2003, and was upgraded to the undergraduate-level Zhengzhou University of Finance and Economics in 2014.

Implementing the Party’s educational policy, the university bears in mind the mission of educating people and nurturing talent. It adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, implements the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and follows the principle of public welfare.

Adhering to the central status of teaching, the university has yielded fruitful educational results. It features 14 secondary colleges, 2 teaching departments, and 38 undergraduate majors covering 6 major disciplines: economics, management, engineering, arts, literature, and education.

Faculty Development

Placing high importance on faculty building, the university continuously improves its teaching level by persisting in both recruiting and nurturing talent.

  • It currently has the equivalent of 1,351.5 full-time teachers, of which 1,107 are its own full-time teachers (including "Silver Age" retired teachers), accounting for 81.91% of the total full-time faculty.

  • The staff includes 100 individuals recognized as academic and technical leaders by the Provincial Department of Education, provincial teaching pacesetters, provincial backbone teachers, and provincial excellent teachers.

  • It hosts 6 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organizations and 2 provincial innovation studios.

  • Teachers have won 143 awards in provincial teaching skills, innovation, and ideological/political course competitions, including 38 special and first prizes.

Research & Innovation

Actively promoting collaborative innovation, the university integrates research with teaching, strengthens applied research, and strives to improve its social service capacity.

  • Facilities: 13 provincial and municipal research and innovation platforms (including provincial engineering technology research centers).

  • Output: Secured 108 provincial/ministerial-level research projects and 1,654 municipal/departmental-level research projects; published 536 papers in core journals; and obtained 455 authorized patents (144 of which have been commercialized/transformed).

  • Intellectual Property: Partnering with the Zhengzhou Intellectual Property Association and the National Technology Transfer Center of Xi'an Jiaotong University (Zhengzhou), it became the first private university nationwide to pass the intellectual property management standard certification.

  • Advisory Role: Organized faculty and students (101 person-times) to participate in key municipal government research, generating 47 internal reference reports—21 received written comments from municipal leaders, and 11 won awards for excellent decision-making research.

Partnerships & Exchanges

Emphasizing open education, the university has seen initial success in broadening its external cooperation:

  • Domestic Cooperation: Signed school-enterprise agreements with companies like Huawei to build 5 industry colleges. Partnered with Xi'an Jiaotong University on a "Three-Year Action Plan" to improve faculty quality and conduct joint research.

  • Regional Support: For ten consecutive years, it has provided counterpart support to Nagqu Vocational Technical School in Tibet, donating 5.2991 million RMB in materials and training 12 batches of 694 teachers and students.

  • International Exchange: Established partnerships with universities in the UK, Malaysia, and other countries. Since 2017, 553 faculty and students have been sent to 14 countries for exchange and training. It has also funded 107 outstanding graduates and 65 backbone teachers for further studies at domestic and foreign universities.
