辞退 has the same meaning of 炒鱿鱼, but 辞退 is a formal word used in files and documents or something like an official word, while 炒鱿鱼 is informal often used in daily life with friends.
About 炒鱿鱼：Now we don't always say "我被炒鱿鱼了"，instead we say "我被炒了" for convenience.
Long ago, when somebody fired by his boss, we can say, 他可以卷铺盖走人了。卷铺盖means fold the quilts. when cooking squid(炒鱿鱼)，the heated squid become curly which looks like quilts that are folded.
