很久以前，有一位聪明的老人，他在村里以智慧著称。每天都有很多人来向他请教各种问题。
Long ago, there was a wise old man. He was renowned for his wisdom in the village. Every day, many people came to consult him about various matters.
一天，一个年轻人来到老人面前。他说：“我觉得生活没有意义，我的朋友骗了我的钱、我的妻子也离开了我，人生到底是为了什么?”
One day, a young man came to the old man. He said, "I feel that life is meaningless. My friend defrauded me of my money and my wife left me. What is life really for?"
老人听后笑了笑，问：“你见过河边的那棵大树吗？”
The old man smiled after hearing this and asked, "Have you seen the big tree by the river?"
年轻人点点头，说：“见过，那是一棵又高又大的树。”
The young man nodded and said, "Yes, I have. It's a tall and big tree."
老人说：“那棵树 40 年前，曾被雷劈成两半，但它努力活了下来。”
The old man said, "Forty years ago, that tree was split in half by lightning, but it strived to survive."
老人接着说：“20 年前，这里发生过大火，那棵树也被大火烧焦了，但它竟也奇迹似地存活下来，成了现在的大树。”
The old man then said, "Twenty years ago, a big fire broke out here. That tree was also scorched by the fire, but miraculously, it survived and became the big tree it is now."
老人微笑着说：“每个过程都有它的意义。你现在的挫折，也许只是成长的过程，如何接受它、面对它、处理它，才是最重要的事。”
The old man smiled and said, "Every process has its meaning. Your current setbacks may just be the process of growth. How to accept it, face it and handle it is the most important thing."
年轻人终于明白，遇到困难，抱怨是没有用的，只有勇敢面对，人生才会成长。
The young man finally understood that when encountering difficulties, complaining is useless. Only by facing them bravely can one grow in life.
