自金山放船至焦山
From Jinshan, setting sail to Jiaoshan.

金山楼观何眈眈，撞钟击鼓闻淮南。
焦山何有有修竹，采薪汲水僧两三。
The golden mountain towers, gazing intently,
The sound of bells and drums echoes from Huainan.
What does Jiaoshan have? It has tall bamboo,
With two or three monks gathering firewood and drawing water.

云霾浪打人迹绝，时有沙户祈春蚕。
我来金山更留宿，而此不到心怀惭。
Clouds and mist shroud the waves, where no trace of people can be found,
Occasionally, sand-dwelling villagers pray for spring silkworms.
I came to Jinshan and stayed overnight,
But not reaching here leaves my heart with shame.

同游尽返决独往，赋命穷薄轻江潭。
清晨无风浪自涌，中流歌啸倚半酣。
All my companions have returned,
yet I resolve to journey alone,
Embracing my destined hardships, I tread lightly on the river's edge.
At dawn, without wind, the waves still rise,
In the middle of the stream, I sing and whistle, leaning back, half-drunken.

老僧下山惊客至，迎笑喜作巴人谈。
自言久客忘乡井，只有弥勒为同龛。
An old monk descends the mountain, startled by the arrival of a guest,
Welcoming with a smile, he happily engages in conversation like a native of Ba.
He says he has been away for so long he has forgotten his hometown well,
His only companion now is Maitreya, sharing the same shrine.

困眠得就纸帐暖，饱食未厌山蔬甘。
山林饥卧古亦有，无田不退宁非贪。
Sleeping in warmth under a paper canopy,
Satisfied with a full meal of the mountain's sweet vegetables.
In ancient times, there were those who slept hungry in the mountains,
Not retreating without land—could this not also be greed .

展禽虽未三见黜，叔夜自知七不堪。
行当投劾谢簪组，为我佳处留茅庵。
Zhan Qin, though not dismissed thrice,
Shu Ye knew himself unfit sevenfold.
I should submit my resignation, free from rank and ties,
And leave for myself a fine spot with a thatched hut.
