Lǚ Sù旅宿Lodging at an Inn by 杜牧 (Dù Mù)

lǚ guǎn wú liáng bàn, níng qíng zì qiǎo rán.

旅馆无良伴，凝情自悄然。

Staying at the inn with no good company, I stare into space, lost in silent gloom.

hán dēng sī jiù shì, duàn yàn jǐng chóu mián.

寒灯思旧事，断雁警愁眠。

By the cold lamp, I recall the past; a lone wild goose cries, startling me from my sorrowful sleep.

yuǎn mèng guī qīn xiǎo, jiā shū dào gé nián.

远梦归侵晓，家书到隔年。

In distant dreams I return home as dawn breaks; letters from my family take a year to arrive.

xiāng jiāng hǎo yān yuè, mén xì diào yú chuán.

湘江好烟月，门系钓鱼船。

The Xiang River lies under beautiful misty moonlight; a fishing boat is tied at the door.
