Nín de xìn wǒ shōu dào le, dànshì yīnwèi máng, yě yīnwèi wǒ de Hànyǔ bù hǎo, guò le zhème jiǔ cái gěi nín xiě xìn, qǐng nín yuánliàng. Nín yíqiè dōu hǎo ba?
I received your letter, but because I’ve been busy, and also because my Chinese isn’t good, it has taken me so long to write back. Please forgive me. Is everything going well with you?
转眼我到中国已经半年多了。去年9月刚来中国时，我听不懂也看不懂，也没有朋友，非常难过。
Zhuǎnyǎn wǒ dào Zhōngguó yǐjīng bàn nián duō le. Qùnián jiǔ yuè gāng lái Zhōngguó shí, wǒ tīng bu dǒng yě kàn bu dǒng, yě méiyǒu péngyou, fēicháng nánguò.
In the blink of an eye, I’ve already been in China for more than half a year. When I first came to China last September, I couldn’t understand what I heard or read, and I didn’t have any friends, so I was very sad.
现在我的汉语水平有了一定程度的提高，也交了不少朋友，不但有中国的，而且还有世界各地的，我们一起学习，互相帮助，每天都过得很开心。
Xiànzài wǒ de Hànyǔ shuǐpíng yǒu le yídìng chéngdù de tígāo, yě jiāo le bù shǎo péngyou, búdàn yǒu Zhōngguó de, érqiě hái yǒu shìjiè gèdì de, wǒmen yìqǐ xuéxí, hùxiāng bāngzhù, měitiān dōu guò de hěn kāixīn.
Now my Chinese level has improved to a certain extent, and I’ve made quite a few friends—not only Chinese friends, but also friends from all over the world. We study together, help each other, and every day is very happy.
汉语学习也越来越有意思了。
Hànyǔ xuéxí yě yuè lái yuè yǒu yìsi le.
Studying Chinese has also become more and more interesting.
开始上课时，我不习惯老师说汉语，只能听懂百分之四五十，因为我没学过简化字，有很多不认识。
Kāishǐ shàngkè shí, wǒ bù xíguàn lǎoshī shuō Hànyǔ, zhǐ néng tīng dǒng bǎifēnzhī sì-wǔshí, yīnwèi wǒ méi xué guo jiǎnhuàzì, yǒu hěn duō bù rènshi.
When classes first started, I wasn’t used to the teacher speaking Chinese. I could only understand forty to fifty percent, because I hadn’t learned simplified characters and there were many I didn’t recognize.
但是我每天努力学习，不懂就问老师和同学，所以我的进步很快。
Dànshì wǒ měitiān nǔlì xuéxí, bù dǒng jiù wèn lǎoshī hé tóngxué, suǒyǐ wǒ de jìnbù hěn kuài.
But I study hard every day, and whenever I don’t understand something, I ask my teacher and classmates, so I’ve made fast progress.
现在我已经能用汉语进行一般的会话了，上课也能听懂四分之三了。
Xiànzài wǒ yǐjīng néng yòng Hànyǔ jìnxíng yìbān de huìhuà le, shàngkè yě néng tīng dǒng sì fēn zhī sān le.
Now I can already carry out ordinary conversations in Chinese, and I can understand three quarters of what is said in class.
最重要的是，我越来越喜欢汉语了，我想将来找一个和中国有关系的工作。
Zuì zhòngyào de shì, wǒ yuè lái yuè xǐhuan Hànyǔ le, wǒ xiǎng jiānglái zhǎo yí ge hé Zhōngguó yǒu guānxi de gōngzuò.
Most importantly, I like Chinese more and more. In the future, I want to find a job related to China.
我现在的生活也基本没问题了。
Wǒ xiànzài de shēnghuó yě jīběn méi wèntí le.
My life now is basically no problem either.
刚来时我不习惯吃中国菜，觉得油太多，也看不懂菜单，只好常常去吃麦当劳。
Gāng lái shí wǒ bù xíguàn chī Zhōngguó cài, juéde yóu tài duō, yě kàn bu dǒng càidān, zhǐhǎo chángcháng qù chī Màidāngláo.
When I first arrived, I wasn’t used to eating Chinese food. I felt it had too much oil, and I couldn’t understand menus, so I often had no choice but to eat at McDonald’s.
现在我不但习惯了吃中餐，还会做几个地道的中国菜呢。
Xiànzài wǒ búdàn xíguàn le chī Zhōngcān, hái huì zuò jǐ ge dìdao de Zhōngguó cài ne.
Now I’m not only used to eating Chinese food, but I can also cook several authentic Chinese dishes.
等我回去以后一定做给你们吃。
Děng wǒ huíqù yǐhòu yídìng zuò gěi nǐmen chī.
After I go back, I’ll definitely cook them for you all.
我以前打算今年8月回国，但是我现在决定延长一年，到明年8月再回国。
Wǒ yǐqián dǎsuàn jīnnián bā yuè huí guó, dànshì wǒ xiànzài juédìng yáncháng yì nián, dào míngnián bā yuè zài huí guó.
I originally planned to return to my country this August, but now I’ve decided to extend my stay by one year and return next August.
在这一年里，我想多了解一点儿中国文化，多交一些朋友。
Zài zhè yì nián lǐ, wǒ xiǎng duō liǎojiě yìdiǎnr Zhōngguó wénhuà, duō jiāo yìxiē péngyou.
During this year, I want to learn more about Chinese culture and make more friends.
