    Xiǎotídàzuò, dà zuò wénzhāng

【解释】To spend more time or energy doing something than is necessary. To blow something out of proportion.

【例句】

- The husband thinks the wife is making a meal of very small mundane things. But he doesn't realize the truth that she is not happy with him.

 丈夫认为是妻子小题大做,但他却没有意识到问题的实质是妻子感觉不幸福。

 Zhàngfū rènwéi shì qīzi xiǎotídàzuò, dàn tā què méiyǒu yìshí dào wèntí de shízhì shì qīzi gǎnjué bù xìngfú.

- Don't tell him anything! He is going to use it as fodder and make a meal of it.
