Jilin University of Finance and Economics(吉林财经大学)

Jilin University of Finance and Economics (JLUFE) is a key university in Jilin Province, jointly established by the Jilin Provincial People’s Government and the State Administration of Taxation.

The university traces its origins to July 1946, beginning as a training class for bank officials organized by the Northeast Bank Headquarters. Over time, it evolved through various stages, including the Northeast Bank Cadre School, Northeast Bank Specialized School, Changchun Banking School of the People’s Bank of China, Jilin University of Finance and Trade, and Jilin Province Finance and Trade School. In May 1978, it was re-established as Jilin University of Finance and Trade, renamed Changchun Taxation College in May 1992, and directly managed by the State Administration of Taxation from 1992 to 2000. In 2004, it was listed as one of the “Key Universities in Jilin Province,” and in March 2010, it adopted its current name, Jilin University of Finance and Economics.

The institution is recognized as the birthplace of red financial education in Northeast China, the first higher education financial institution established in New China, and the earliest ordinary undergraduate finance and economics college in the nation. It is also the only undergraduate taxation university in China.

In 2005, the university relocated to a new campus by Jingyuetan National Forest Park, known as “Asia’s Largest Artificial Forest.” The campus covers 1.08 million square meters and offers an extensive library with 1.73 million printed books, 1.41 million e-books, and access to 83 foreign-language journals and 63 academic databases. Its serene, elegant environment and well-equipped student housing provide a nurturing atmosphere for academic and personal growth.

The university is committed to the principle of "virtue and talent cultivation" and aims to produce highly skilled, application-oriented, innovative, and interdisciplinary professionals in finance and economics. Over the past 78 years, it has nurtured more than 100,000 professionals who have made significant contributions to national economic development. Alumni include the first female accounting Ph.D. in China and numerous experts teaching at top universities such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, Sun Yat-sen University, and Xiamen University. Graduates have excelled in various fields, earning the university a reputation as the "Cradle of Bankers" and the "Huangpu Military Academy of the Tax System." The 2023 graduates’ employment efforts were commended by the provincial government, reflecting the university's strong graduate employment outcomes and employer satisfaction rates consistently above 97%.

JLUFE emphasizes academic development, focusing on a disciplinary ecosystem that balances strengths, emerging fields, and foundational subjects. The university's academic structure centers on economics and management while integrating law, literature, science, and engineering disciplines. It is a doctoral degree-granting institution with eight high-level disciplines in Jilin Province, including one "A-Class First-Class Discipline" and one "B-Class First-Class Discipline." The university offers 41 undergraduate programs, 10 first-level master’s degree disciplines, 14 professional master’s degree categories, and a doctoral program in statistics.
