Langfang Normal University is a provincial-level teacher training university in Hebei Province, with its origins dating back to 1914 when it was founded as the Anci County Normal School. In 1946, it was renamed the Anci County Simplified Normal School, and in 1956, it became Hebei Langfang Normal School. In 1964, the school was upgraded to Langfang Normal College, and in 2000, it was officially recognized as Langfang Normal University by the Ministry of Education. In 2005, after the approval of the Hebei Provincial People's Government, Hebei Vocational and Technical College was merged into the university, forming the new Langfang Normal University. The university passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching evaluation in 2008 and was selected for the construction of master's degree-granting programs in 2016. In 2018, it successfully passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching review and was approved as one of Hebei's second batch of universities for applied transformation in 2020.
The university is located in Langfang, a central area of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with two campuses: Langfang and Konggang (Airport). It covers an area of 1,030,000 square meters, with a total building area of 430,000 square meters. The total value of its fixed assets is 603 million yuan, and the value of its teaching and research equipment totals 214 million yuan. The university has 39 administrative and academic units, including 14 party and administrative bodies, 8 teaching support units, 17 academic departments, and 5 academic journals. Langfang Normal University offers 58 undergraduate programs across 9 disciplines, including education, history, literature, law, science, engineering, economics, management, and the arts. The university has established a distinct and well-structured application-oriented professional system. Currently, the university has 19,413 full-time undergraduates and 1,394 faculty and staff, of whom 1,146 are full-time teachers, 460 hold senior academic titles, and 345 hold doctoral degrees. Among its faculty, the university has 37 distinguished individuals, including nationally recognized historians, national-level scholars, experts with special government allowances, and outstanding teachers. It also has 17 members serving as national and provincial committee chairs and experts, 74 faculty members supervising doctoral and master's students, and a large number of professional skills experts, including world bodybuilding champion Zheng Shaozhong.

Additionally, the university has 14 provincial-level platforms and bases in fields like children's cognitive development and digital education, and edible fungi resources.
Langfang Normal University is committed to integrating industry and education, advancing deep cooperation with local industries and government to support Langfang’s "Nine Major Projects" for economic and social development. The university has also established an edible fungi industry college, which has made significant contributions to poverty alleviation and economic development in Fuping County. The "Six-in-One" targeted poverty alleviation model has helped lift 100,000 people in Fuping out of poverty, contributing to the county's first-place ranking in the national poverty alleviation assessment of 2019. Professor Hou Guisen received national recognition for his work in poverty alleviation.
The university actively engages in international collaboration, introducing high-quality foreign educational resources. It has established partnerships with universities in Poland, Australia, and the UK to offer cooperative undergraduate programs in fields like sports education, accounting, international economics and trade, and financial management.
