我剛剛想出門，不料卻下大雨了。
wǒ gāng gāng xiǎng chū mén , bú liào què xià dà yǔ le .
I just wanted to go out. (But,) it rained unexpectedly.

不料[bú liào] (conj.) =没想到 [méi xiǎng dào]
I didn’t expect that….; unexpectedly
Sentence Pattern:
