Acerca de la Universidad

Chengdu Medical College is a full-time public medical college established by the Sichuan Provincial Government. Founded in 1947, the institution operated under military administration for 57 years before transitioning to local governance in 2004. It was then renamed from the “Third Military Medical University Chengdu Medical School” to “Chengdu Medical College.”

The college is a "priority cultivation" unit for doctoral degree authorization in Sichuan Province. It is also among the first batch of pilot universities for the National "Excellence in Doctor Education and Training Program" and a participant in the Ministry of Education's "Data China 100-School Project." It is the first university in Sichuan to pass the Ministry of Education’s accreditation for its clinical medicine program.

Chengdu Medical College carries forward the fine traditions of being "particularly political, disciplined, dedicated, cooperative, and battle-ready," adhering to its motto of "Broad Knowledge, Compassion, and Precision." The institution emphasizes medicine as its core discipline while integrating medicine with science, engineering, and management, forming an educational structure that includes undergraduate, postgraduate, and international student programs. The college operates on two campuses, Xindu and Tiaohui, covering over 1,100 mu (approximately 73 hectares) with more than 15,000 full-time students.

Academic Programs and Achievements

The college offers 24 undergraduate programs, including four recognized as national first-class programs and 13 as provincial-level first-class programs. It has eight provincial-level specialty, application-oriented, and exemplary programs. Five courses are recognized as national first-class undergraduate courses, and 86 are provincial-level first-class, exemplary, or virtual simulation courses. The college boasts two national experimental teaching platforms, one Ministry of Education base for medical humanities education, and four provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, as well as one modern industry academy.

Disciplines such as Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and Pharmacy are part of Sichuan Province's "Double First-Class" Gongga Plan. Over the past five years, it has published over 1,000 SCI, SSCI, and CSSCI papers, produced 147 academic works, and won 14 provincial and ministerial scientific awards. Its clinical research has been featured in international journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine and Cell.

The college employs over 1,200 staff, with more than 50% holding doctoral degrees or senior professional titles. It has over 800 master's degree advisors, both full-time and part-time. The faculty includes more than 130 high-level talents, such as experts receiving government allowances, provincial academic leaders, and recipients of "Tianfu" talent plans.

The college has nine affiliated hospitals, with over 10,000 hospital beds. These include four national clinical key specialties: cardiovascular medicine, dermatology, neurology, and obstetrics & gynecology. It also features more than 70 provincial medical key disciplines and clinical specialties and 74 national standardized residency training bases.

It collaborates closely with over 20 local governments and maintains partnerships with more than 10 domestic and international universities, as well as hundreds of leading enterprises and research institutions.

Looking Forward

As it embarks on a new journey, Chengdu Medical College, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implements the Party’s education policies. The college is committed to fulfilling its mission of cultivating virtue and talent while pursuing its "83 Plan" as a strategic framework. By advancing its goals of becoming a university and establishing doctoral programs, the college aims to achieve high-quality, leapfrog development. It seeks to contribute to the modernization of Sichuan and the broader goals of building a socialist modernized nation.
