Hubei Business College, approved by the Ministry of Education, is a full-time general undergraduate institution established in 1995. The college is located in the central region of China—Hubei Province, with two campuses in Wuhan and Xianning, covering a total area of 739,500 square meters and a building area of 367,400 square meters. The college currently has nearly 20,000 full-time students. Academician Wu Hongxin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences serves as the Honorary President of the college.

In nearly 30 years of operation, the college has fully implemented the Party's educational principles and adhered to the fundamental task of moral education. The school maintains the orientation of being "regional, application-oriented, and distinctive," and upholds the educational goal of "student-centered, quality-first" along with the motto "Dreams, Action, Wisdom, Joy." The college practices the educational philosophy of "moral education first, ability emphasized, connotation-based, and特色-oriented," actively exploring reforms in talent cultivation models. The college has established eight industrial colleges to train high-quality applied talents to meet the needs of modern industries. The goal is to build a modern, informationized, and internationalized higher education institution with significant influence and a high level of applied education.

Two Campuses, Creating a Star-Level Campus

The college has a favorable location, convenient transportation, and a beautiful environment. The Wuhan campus is located in the core area of the Optics Valley in Wuhan, surrounded by prestigious universities such as Huazhong University of Science and Technology to the east, Central China Normal University to the west, Huazhong Agricultural University to the south, and Wuhan University to the north, creating a rich cultural and academic atmosphere. The Xianning campus is situated in the charming Xianning City, known as "The City of Chinese Charm and Hot Springs" (508 He Sheng Road, High-tech Zone, Xianning), just an hour’s drive from downtown Wuhan. The campus is nestled between mountains and water, covering over 1,000 acres, with picturesque scenery all year round.

The college boasts rich teaching resources, advanced teaching equipment, and complete infrastructure. There are 115 experimental spaces, providing strong support for cultivating applied talents. The library holds over 1.7 million physical books, 1.07 million e-books, and 240,000 e-journals, recognized as a "Creative Design Demonstration Base" by the Hubei Province Higher Education Library Committee. The campus also provides a comprehensive range of facilities, including tennis courts, a cinema, a concert hall, and a cultural and sports center with a basketball court, gym, swimming pool, and auditorium for over 1,000 people. The smart, hotel-style student apartments are fully equipped with air conditioning, internet, water heaters, washing machines, and other amenities.

Program Development, Strengthening Educational Foundations

The college has 10 academic units: the School of Economics and Management, the School of Accounting, the School of Arts and Media, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Education, the School of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Urban Construction, the School of Sports and Health, and the School of Marxism. The college offers over 60 undergraduate and specialized programs across six major disciplines: Economics, Management, Arts, Humanities, Engineering, and Education. Notably, the School of Design is recognized as a key discipline in Hubei Province; Art Design is a key undergraduate program; and the Information and Art Design program clusters have been selected for the second batch of pilot institutions for transformation and development in Hubei Province. The college has 3 provincial "Comprehensive Reform Pilot Programs" for undergraduate programs (Finance, Environmental Design, and Product Design), 6 provincial-level first-class undergraduate program development projects (Finance, Computer Science and Technology, English, Financial Management, Visual Communication Design, E-commerce), 10 "1+X" dual certification pilot programs, and 24 courses selected as provincial-level first-class courses, provincial-level excellent resource-sharing courses, and provincial-level curriculum ideological and political demonstration projects.

In addition, the college has successfully developed the "brand" of various colleges and is a pilot institution for the Ministry of Education’s new finance and new business intelligent learning projects. The School of Economics and Management, together with the School of Computer Science and Technology, has established the "Huawei Cloud Academy Kunpeng Class," while the School of Arts and Media has implemented the "One Teacher, One Studio" initiative, both having significant demonstration and leadership roles.

Talent Strengthening, Building a Professional Faculty

The college adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school with talent" and actively recruits high-level professionals, building a faculty team with a rational structure and excellent quality. Currently, over 95% of full-time teachers hold master’s degrees or higher. The faculty includes one "Wuhan Yellow Crane Talent," three "Industry Professors" in Hubei Province, two "Outstanding Teachers in Financial Universities," and 12 provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organizations, teaching teams, and innovative science and technology teams. The college has won five provincial-level teaching achievement awards. In 2022, Professor Kan Xingli was nominated for the "Jingchu Good Teacher" honor, and in 2023 and 2024, the teams led by teachers Yuan Jingjing and Zhou Rui won first prizes in the third and fourth Hubei Provincial Higher Education Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition, respectively.

The college relies on platforms such as the Big Data and Intelligent Systems Research Institute, the Modern Service Economy Center, and the Rural Revitalization Research Institute to promote deep integration between science, education, and industry, continuously improving teaching and educational standards. It is a supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation and has won a first-class provincial or ministerial-level science and technology award, with 50+ provincial or higher research projects. Faculty members have published 263 papers in SCI, EI, and core journals, and have edited or co-edited 264 textbooks and monographs, with 63 patents and software copyrights granted.

Industry-Education Integration, School-Enterprise Collaborative Education

The college promotes the cultivation of high-quality, applied innovative talents through school-enterprise cooperation, integration of industry and education, and collaborative education. It closely aligns with Hubei's pillar industries, strengths, and special sectors, collaborating deeply with leading enterprises, commercial research platforms, and major securities firms. The college actively explores a two-way talent flow mechanism between schools and enterprises, creating industry-academia-research service platforms, and has developed 8 modern industrial colleges, including Huawei Cloud Academy, Huazhong CNC Industrial College, Guanglian Digital Architecture Industrial College, Smart Accounting Industrial College, Securities and Futures Industrial College, Modern E-commerce Industrial College, Yonyou BIP Industrial College, and Digital Culture and New Media Industrial College.

The college emphasizes practical skills and has established 214 provincial and school-level internship and training bases in collaboration with over 100 renowned domestic and international companies, including Alibaba, Changjiang Securities, Caixin Data, Chinasoft International, JD, Schneider, ZF, and NIKON. The college has been approved for 64 Ministry of Education industry-university cooperation projects and 86 Ministry of Education employment education projects.

The college focuses on cultivating students' "independent thinking, practical ability, teamwork, and lifelong learning" to promote comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. The college has built a vibrant campus culture with events like the Campus Aesthetic Education Festival, Club Culture and Arts Festival, English Culture Festival, Business Forum, and Sports Carnival. It has won the second prize for excellent campus culture achievements in Hubei Province. The college has also hosted major sports events such as the Chinese University Basketball League (CUBA) Women’s National Finals and the China Volleyball League (Hubei Main Venue), and its dragon boat and martial arts teams have achieved great success in top competitions, showcasing Hubei Business College’s excellence in national media outlets such as CCTV and Xinhua News.
