In Response to Secretary Jia’s “Early Court at Daming Palace”

jiàng zé jī rén sòng xiǎo chóu, shàng yī fāng jìn cuì yún qiú.
绛帻鸡人送晓筹,尚衣方进翠云裘。
The crimson-capped timekeeper announces the dawn watch, while the imperial wardrobe presents the kingfisher-cloud robe.
jiǔ tiān chāng hé kāi gōng diàn, wàn guó yī guān bài miǎn liú.
九天阊阖开宫殿,万国衣冠拜冕旒。
The celestial gates of the palace open as if in the highest heavens, and envoys of all nations bow before the emperor’s crown.
rì sè cái lín xiān zhǎng dòng, xiāng yān yù bàng gǔn lóng fú.
日色才临仙掌动,香烟欲傍衮龙浮。
As sunlight first touches the bronze immortal’s palm, it seems to move, and incense smoke drifts as if floating beside the dragon robe.
cháo bà xū cái wǔ sè zhào, pèi shēng guī xiàng fèng chí tóu.
朝罢须裁五色诏,佩声归向凤池头。
When the court audience ends, the five-colored edicts must be drafted, and the sound of jade pendants returns toward the Phoenix Pool.
