Seeing Off Chen Zhangfu

sì yuè nán fēng dà mài huáng, zǎo huā wèi luò tóng yīn cháng.
四月南风大麦黄，枣花未落桐阴长。
In the fourth month, the south wind blows and the barley turns yellow; jujube blossoms have not yet fallen, and the paulownia shade grows long.

qīng shān zhāo bié mù hái jiàn, sī mǎ chū mén sī jiù xiāng.
青山朝别暮还见，嘶马出门思旧乡。
At dawn we part from the green hills, yet by dusk they still appear; the neighing horse leaves the gate, longing for the old hometown.

chén hóu lì shēn hé tǎn dàng, qiú xū hǔ méi réng dà sǎng.
陈侯立身何坦荡，虬须虎眉仍大颡。
How open and upright Lord Chen is in bearing; with curled beard, tiger-like brows, and a broad forehead.

fù zhōng zhù shū yī wàn juàn, bù kěn dī tóu zài cǎo mǎng.
腹中贮书一万卷，不肯低头在草莽。
Within him are stored ten thousand scrolls of learning; he refuses to bow his head and remain among the common wilds.

dōng mén gū jiǔ yǐn wǒ cáo, xīn qīng wàn shì jiē hóng máo.
东门酤酒饮我曹，心轻万事皆鸿毛。
At the eastern gate he buys wine and drinks with us; in his heart, all worldly matters are as light as goose down.

zuì wò bù zhī bái rì mù, yǒu shí kōng wàng gū yún gāo.
醉卧不知白日暮，有时空望孤云高。
Drunk, he lies down, unaware that the day has faded; at times he only gazes upward at a lonely cloud drifting high.

cháng hé làng tóu lián tiān hēi, jīn kǒu tíng zhōu dù bù dé.
长河浪头连天黑，津口停舟渡不得。
On the long river, waves rise dark against the sky; at the ferry mouth, boats lie moored, unable to cross.

zhèng guó yóu rén wèi jí jiā, luò yáng xíng zǐ kōng tàn xī.
郑国游人未及家，洛阳行子空叹息。
The traveler from Zheng has not yet reached home; the wayfarer from Luoyang can only sigh in vain.

wén dào gù lín xiāng shí duō, bà guān zuó rì jīn rú hé.
闻道故林相识多，罢官昨日今如何。
I hear that in your old woods there are many who know you; yesterday you left office, but how are you today?
