Anyang Normal University is located in the historic city of Anyang, the birthplace of oracle bone script, home to the Yinxu ruins, the cradle of the Hongqi Canal spirit, and one of China's eight ancient capitals. It is a provincially-affiliated undergraduate institution in Henan Province. The university traces its origins to the Changde Prefecture Anyang Normal Training Institute, established in 1908. In 1949, it was renamed Pingyuan Provincial Anyang Normal School and went through various name changes, including Henan Provincial Anyang Normal College in 1958 and Anyang First Normal School in 1960, before becoming Anyang Normal College again in 1978. In 1992, it was renamed Anyang Higher Normal College. In 2000, Anyang Higher Normal College merged with Anyang Education College and Anyang Second Normal School to form Anyang Normal University. In 2011, it was approved as a pilot unit for master's professional degree training, and by 2020, it was recognized as one of Henan Province's 17 characteristic and key universities. In 2021, it was authorized to grant master's degrees.
The university adheres to the socialist orientation of education, fully implementing the Party's education policies, and has evolved into a comprehensive university covering ten disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, arts, and interdisciplinary studies. It occupies 1,380 acres, with a building area of 681,600 square meters, and teaching and research equipment valued at 439 million yuan. Its library houses 2.28 million print volumes. The university has 19 teaching colleges and a continuing education college, offering 13 master's degree programs and 65 undergraduate programs. It hosts one Henan provincial key discipline cluster and has built several key disciplines at the provincial level. It enrolls students from 20 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide and currently has over 30,000 full-time undergraduates.
Faculty and Research
Anyang Normal University emphasizes talent cultivation, employing 1,924 faculty members, including 537 with senior professional titles and 1,395 with master's or doctoral degrees. It boasts one Ministry of Education innovation team, four provincial innovation teams, 12 university innovation teams, and two demonstration innovation studios for model workers and skilled talents. It also includes recipients of national and provincial awards such as the New Century Excellent Talents program, provincial science and innovation talents, and outstanding scholars in philosophy and social sciences.

It houses the world’s most extensive oracle bone database, recognized as a key laboratory by the Ministry of Education. Its research outcomes include national awards, landmark publications, and international collaborations.
Social and International Engagement
The university actively participates in international Chinese education, recruiting international students from Belt and Road Initiative countries and collaborating with institutions in the U.S., Canada, and beyond.
