Beihua University is the largest provincial key comprehensive university in Jilin Province, jointly established by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. Approved by the Ministry of Education in September 1999, Beihua University was formed by the merger of Jilin Normal College, Jilin Medical College, Jilin Forestry College, and Jilin Electrification College. The origins of these four institutions trace back to the Jilin Junior Normal School (founded in 1906), Jilin Private Midwifery School (1928), Jilin Provincial Forestry School (1952), and Jilin Provincial Vocational School (1920), making it the birthplace of modern education in Jilin Province.
