Introduction to the College

Changzhou University Huai De College is an independent college approved by the Ministry of Education, jointly established by Changzhou University and Jingjiang City, leveraging the high-quality educational resources of Changzhou University. Founded in March 2002 with approval from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the college initially operated as a public-private secondary college. In May 2005, it was restructured as an independent college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In December 2013, the college was officially registered as a public institution by the Jiangsu Provincial Administration for Institutional Registration. In April 2014, Changzhou University and the Jingjiang Municipal Government signed an agreement to relocate Huai De College to Jingjiang. In May 2014, the Ministry of Education formally approved this relocation.

Campus and Facilities

The college campus covers 748 acres, with a total building area of 270,000 square meters. It is equipped with classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, dormitories, and cafeterias, providing comprehensive teaching and living amenities. The teaching instruments, equipment, and library resources meet the needs of its academic programs.

Academic Structure and Faculty

The college comprises seven departments, two divisions, and 16 functional offices, supported by over 550 staff members, 44% of whom hold senior professional titles or above. Focused on cultivating application-oriented talents, the college has more than 10,000 students from 23 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China.

  • Academic Programs: The college offers 24 undergraduate programs spanning five disciplines: engineering, humanities, economics, management, and the arts.
  • Key Programs: Programs such as Electronic Information Engineering, International Economics and Trade, Marketing, Logistics Management, and Accounting are designated as first-class undergraduate programs in Jiangsu Province. The Environmental Engineering program is recognized as an industry-education integration brand program in the province.

Achievements and Impact

The college benefits from sharing the high-quality educational resources of its parent institution while leveraging its operational flexibility. It has made significant strides in areas such as party building, ideological education, academic teaching, and student management.

  • Graduation and Employment: Over the past three years, the graduation rate has exceeded 99%, with a degree conferment rate above 96% and an annual employment rate around 92%.
  • Competitions and Honors: The college has achieved outstanding results in national competitions such as the China International College Students’ Innovation Contest, the “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition, the National Metallographic Skills Competition, and the National College English Competition. Notably, in the 14th “Challenge Cup” Qinchuangyuan National Entrepreneurship Contest, it won one silver and one bronze award, becoming the only independent college in Jiangsu to reach the final evaluation in 2024, achieving the highest honor among independent colleges nationwide for that year.
  • Innovation and Incubation: Since the launch of the Jijiang Maker Street in November 2017, 75 projects have been successfully incubated.
