Guizhou Institute of Technology (GIT) was officially approved by the Ministry of Education on April 18, 2013. It is a provincial-level full-time public ordinary undergraduate college specialized in engineering and promoting multi-disciplinary coordinated development of engineering, science and management. The school has 19 colleges and 38 undergraduate majors. It has co-established the Electrical Engineering and Automation major with the University of Bedford, UK. GIT has 13,080 full-time undergraduates now. In April 2016, the school was granted by the Ministry of Education the eligibility of enrolling foreign students.
The school is located in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province in the southwest of China. It is divided into two camps. The Caijiaguan Campus is located on the bank of Aha Lake in southwest Guiyang, and the Gui'an campus is located on the Boshi Road of Gui' an New District College Town, surrounded by beautiful mountains and waters. GIT, adhering to the motto of “practice, morality and knowledge”, strives to build a satisfactory first-class university of technology in west China.
In January 2017, our school became one of China’s first pilot universities of deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. In July of the same year, we proposed and co-established "China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Universities", and became a rotating chairman and a permanent secretariat of it. The Alliance now has 35 members from the territory or beyond. Our undergraduate program of electrical engineering and automation co-established with the University of Bedford, UK was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2018. It is the first Chinese-foreign cooperative engineering education program at the undergraduate level in Guizhou Province, which is running well at present and has enrolled two sessions of students. In September to October 2019, GIT implemented the "Envoy of Friendship" training program at UTAR of Malaysia, another member of the Alliance by training 60 UTAR students for two weeks, which enhanced the educational exchanges and cooperation between the two schools. In addition, GIT plans to set up overseas branches, and has established cooperative relations with more than 10 overseas universities such as the Macau University of Science and Technology, the National University of Ireland and the Central Queensland University.
Since 2016, international students from Russia, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Laos and other countries along the "Belt and Road" have attended our school, and over 400 students have been trained so far,of which 85 are academic students in 9 secondary colleges of our school.
In addition to academic courses and Chinese language courses, we also offer a unique Chinese cultural interest course for our international students. International students can choose Chinese tea art, flower arrangement, Chinese painting, Tai Chi and calligraphy courses according to their own preferences.
Outside the classroom, we also actively encourage international students to participate in the International Student Literature, Art and Cultural Competition organized by universities in the province. At the same time, for the inclusiveness to different cultures, we also hold annual festivals such as the Southeast Asian Songkran Festival and the International Student New Year Party, which not only effectively promoted the exchanges and interactions of cultures of various countries, but also further inspired international students’ Interest and enthusiasm for Chinese culture and Chinese language learning.
