Hunan University of Finance and Economics is a full-time undergraduate institution specializing in finance and economics, sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Government and supervised by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and the Hunan Provincial Department of Finance. The university has two campuses, covering 760 acres. The main campus is located in the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, near Yuelu Mountain, by the Xiang River, and close to Meixi Lake. The Leifeng Campus is situated in the Changsha National High-tech Industry Development Zone. The school is a part of the Ministry of Education’s "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for first-class undergraduate professional development, a key institution for the construction of applied specialty disciplines in Hunan's 14th Five-Year Plan, and has received numerous accolades, including being named a "Model of Educational Information Management" and recognized for its excellence in ideological and political education.
Rich Educational History
Founded in May 1933 by renowned educators and economists such as Xiong Chongxu, Chen Jiazan, Li Xiaodan, and Wang Jifan, the school began as the "Hou Sheng Accounting Institute" and was one of the earliest private accounting schools in Hunan during the Republic of China period. It earned widespread recognition for producing talented professionals in finance and accounting. Over the years, the school underwent several name changes, including "Hunan Provincial Finance School," "Hunan Financial and Trade School," and "Hunan University of Finance and Economics." It was officially transformed into a public institution in 1951 and later upgraded to an undergraduate university in 2010.
