О Университете

Jilin Business and Technology College is a young, provincial public higher education institution in Jilin Province, located by the beautiful Kalen Lake in the Jiutai Economic Development Zone of Changchun, the provincial capital.

The college was established in 2007 through the merger of Jilin Fiscal and Taxation Higher Vocational College, Jilin Business Higher Vocational College, and Jilin Grain Higher Vocational College, all of which were founded in the early 1960s under different government departments: the Jilin Provincial Department of Finance, the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Jilin Provincial Department of Grain. Over the course of more than 40 years, these institutions provided specialized training in finance, business, and grain industries, cultivating tens of thousands of professionals for Jilin Province and the broader northeast region.

The university adheres to the direction of socialist education, following the motto "Extensive Learning, Good Thinking, Integrity, and Self-reliance." It embraces the educational philosophy of "student-centered, distinctive characteristics, reform and innovation, and service to society," with a focus on developing undergraduate education. In 2013, the college successfully passed the Ministry of Education’s evaluation for undergraduate teaching quality, and in 2014, it relocated to the Jiutai Economic Development Zone. In 2015, it was approved as one of the first pilot institutions for transitioning to an applied undergraduate university.

The college currently has 13 academic departments offering 45 undergraduate programs across seven academic disciplines: economics, management, engineering, science, literature, arts, and agriculture. The college emphasizes the development of specialized fields such as "finance and economics," "grain," and "hospitality and tourism," while strengthening the construction of new engineering and liberal arts disciplines to create a new educational framework that coordinates the development of multiple disciplines and programs.

The college recruits students from all 31 provinces and regions in China. As of September 3, 2024, the college has 15,061 full-time undergraduate and associate degree students, with undergraduates making up 87.61% of the total enrollment. This proportion has been steadily increasing.

There are 661 full-time faculty members, including 343 senior academic titles (51.89%), 70 doctoral-level teachers (10.59%), and 508 master’s degree holders (76.85%). The faculty pool is diverse and continually expanding, with experts such as recipients of the State Council Special Allowance, national-level distinguished teachers, national exemplary cultural workers, Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talents, and many provincial-level outstanding professionals. The college also boasts an excellent teaching team recognized at the provincial level, including the Huang Danian Model Teacher Award and other prestigious honors.

The campus covers 1.0869 million square meters, with a building area of 388,300 square meters and a greening area of 384,000 square meters. The campus features natural ecological beauty, harmonious architecture, and rich cultural atmosphere, earning the title of "Most Beautiful Courtyard in Changchun." The college has fixed assets worth 1.258 billion yuan, a collection of 1.0135 million volumes of paper books, 1.275 million electronic books, and access to 22 electronic literature databases. The college has 222 laboratories and training bases on campus, as well as 170 off-campus practice teaching bases. It also hosts 7 provincial-level off-campus practice education bases.

In recent years, the leadership of the college has become stronger, following the guidance of Xi Jinping's thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era. The college implements the national educational guidelines and focuses on the needs of regional economic development and industry requirements. It has deepened undergraduate education reforms and strengthened the core position of undergraduate education. The college has developed a new talent training system called "Four Principles and One Tree, Five Educational Integrations," which has achieved significant progress in school governance, educational reforms, and development, ushering in a new stage of high-quality development for applied undergraduate universities.

The college has distinctive characteristics in its educational offerings. Seizing the historical opportunity of Jilin's comprehensive revitalization, it focuses on the development of modern services, agriculture, and the integration of culture, tourism, and agriculture, all critical to the regional economy. The college strengthens its "finance and economics" foundation while highlighting the "grain" and "hospitality and tourism" features to create a new educational identity. The college has joined several prestigious national and regional organizations, including the China Financial Education Development Foundation and the China Education Development Strategy Society. It has also been recognized as a "National Food Security Education Base" by the National Grain and Materials Reserve Bureau and is one of the first ten "National Grain and Materials Reserve Education and Training Bases." The college has contributed to the development of the "Jilin Cuisine" brand and participated in the 2024 National Restaurant and Tourism College Development Conference.

The college is committed to improving the quality of education and fostering well-rounded, application-oriented graduates.
