The Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology (JICT), founded in 1958, is located in Jilin City, a northern riverside metropolis. Established alongside the People's Republic of China's first petrochemical enterprise—China Petroleum Jilin Petrochemical Company—it has earned the reputation as the “Cradle of Chemical Industry Talent” in China. It is one of the first seven chemical engineering colleges approved by the State Council and remains the only chemical-focused university in Jilin Province. Since its establishment, JICT has aligned itself with economic and social development, emphasizing scientific research and talent cultivation. Over time, it has cultivated a distinctive educational approach, characterized as a "growth cradle for engineers and a training base for managers." It has been recognized as part of the Excellent Engineer Training Program, a pilot university for the National Education Modernization Project, and an A-Class University under Jilin Province’s High-Level Featured University Construction Project.

• Campus: JICT operates three campuses—Longtan, Shuangji, and Fengman—covering a total area of approximately 1.15 million square meters.
