Ningbo University of Finance and Economics(宁波财经学院)

Ningbo University of Finance and Economics (NBUFE) is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, a city with a rich history and culture as well as a modern international port. NBUFE is a regional application-oriented undergraduate university primarily focused on economics and management, with coordinated development across disciplines such as economics, management, engineering, humanities, and arts. Established in 2001, it was approved as a regular undergraduate institution in 2008, designated as one of Zhejiang’s first pilot demonstration universities for application-oriented undergraduate education in 2015, and recognized as a "National Private University Model School for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education" in 2016. In 2018, the institution was renamed from "Ningbo Dahongying College" to "Ningbo University of Finance and Economics."

Campus and Facilities

The university operates three campuses: Haishu, Hangzhou Bay, and Xiangshan, covering over 1,133,000 square meters with a total building area of 780,000 square meters. It has 13 teaching units, including schools for International Economics and Trade, Finance and Information, Business Administration, Accounting (Wealth Management), Digital Technology and Engineering, Humanities, Art and Design, and others. NBUFE offers 45 undergraduate programs, with nearly 20,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 1,000 faculty members. Among its faculty, 93.8% hold master’s degrees or higher, 30.2% are associate professors or above, and 51% are dual-competency professionals. It also boasts over 100 high-level talents, including provincial leaders in various academic fields and national teaching award recipients.

Academic Strength and Achievements

The university has:

• 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction points.
• 7 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points.
• 4 provincial emerging characteristic majors and 7 key advantage majors.
• 5 national first-class courses and 127 provincial first-class courses. It supports four provincial first-class disciplines and four municipal key disciplines. Over the past five years, NBUFE has secured 200 provincial and ministerial research projects, including 25 funded by the National Social Science Foundation, and received multiple awards for academic achievements.

NBUFE has implemented 71 collaborative education projects with the Ministry of Education and has received 24 provincial and municipal teaching achievement awards. Its students have won over 2,790 awards in provincial or higher-level competitions, including 1,400 at national and international levels.

Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Teaching Reform

Driven by the dual goals of innovation and entrepreneurship, the university continuously integrates industry and education. It collaborates with businesses to operate ten modern industry or specialty colleges, such as the Bulk Commodity Business School. Notably, it established a physical Entrepreneurship School and launched China's first undergraduate program in Entrepreneurship Management. The Business Model Laboratory (BM-Lab) is recognized as both a national and provincial maker space.

NBUFE employs innovative teaching approaches, including:

International Exchange and Cooperation

NBUFE maintains long-term partnerships with over 50 international institutions. It collaborates on credit recognition and exchange programs with institutions such as Northern Arizona University, the University of South Wales, and Slovakia’s University of Economics and Management in Bratislava. The China-Slovakia Silk Road College, established in partnership with the latter, is part of Zhejiang’s first group of "Silk Road Colleges." Other initiatives include the “Slovakia Education and Research Center” and the “Ningbo-Central and Eastern European Student Film Alliance.” Annually, hundreds of students and faculty participate in overseas exchange programs, further fostering international collaboration.
