College of Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University is a higher education independent college with independent legal status, jointly established by Three Gorges University and Yichang Education and Industrial Development Corporation, approved by the Ministry of Education and the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. It was originally founded in September 2000 as the Yichang branch of Three Gorges University; in August 2002, it was renamed Three Gorges University School of Science and Technology with the approval of the provincial education department. In February 2004, it was re-recognized by the Ministry of Education as an independent college offering higher education. The college passed the Hubei Province Independent College Undergraduate Program Teaching Quality Evaluation in 2010 and the Hubei Province Independent College Bachelor's Degree Granting Qualification Review in 2012, obtaining the qualification to independently confer bachelor's degrees.

The college is located in Yichang, Hubei Province, the site of the Three Gorges Project, known as the "Hydropower Capital of the World" and a famous Chinese tourist city. It shares the campus with Three Gorges University, benefiting from its strong academic atmosphere and high-quality educational resources. The college occupies an area of 825 acres, offering 43 undergraduate programs and 14 diploma programs, covering nine major disciplines: engineering, literature, science, management, education, economics, law, medicine, and the arts. It also has qualifications for ethnic minority preparatory classes and special ethnic programs. The college offers three provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs, 12 provincial-level first-class courses, and three provincial-level outstanding teaching organizations. As of now, the college has a total of 11,310 students, including 10,028 undergraduates and 1,282 diploma students.

The college employs 593 staff members, including 488 full-time teachers (263 shared with the university) and 239 external faculty members. Among the full-time faculty, 83% hold master's degrees or higher, and 57.79% have senior academic titles.

Throughout its development, Three Gorges University School of Science and Technology has adhered to its motto, "Cultivate virtue, pursue competence, improve oneself, and seek wisdom." The college has consistently focused on deepening teaching reforms and improving educational quality as a key strategy for its transformation and upgrading. It has formed an educational approach centered on talent cultivation and committed to serving the hydropower industry and local socioeconomic development, using three classrooms as platforms to cultivate application-oriented technical talents for the frontline of production. As a result, the college has significantly improved its educational quality and teaching standards. Each year, students win more than 497 provincial and ministerial-level awards in various subject competitions. The college has earned national recognition, including being ranked among the top 100 independent colleges in China and recognized as a regional high-level independent college.

In recent years, on the basis of standardized school operations, the college has seized opportunities to accelerate its transformation and comprehensive reform, striving to achieve new milestones in its development.
