History and Founding Spirit

Mianyang Teachers’ College (MTC) is a full-time public undergraduate institution in Sichuan Province, located in Mianyang — China's Science and Technology City and the birthplace of the renowned poet Li Bai. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2002, the college was authorized to confer bachelor’s degrees in 2006 and, in 2024, officially became a master’s degree-granting unit. Over years of development, MTC has forged a campus spirit characterized by "Self-improvement, Hard Work, Pragmatic Innovation, and Pursuit of Excellence," and embodying the motto "Virtue, Erudition, Practice, and Perseverance."

Campuses and Academic Structure

MTC comprises three campuses—Gaoxin, Youxian, and Fenggu—covering nearly 2,000 mu (approximately 133 hectares) with a total floor area of about 500,000 square meters. The campuses are equipped with modern teaching, laboratory, sports, and library facilities. The college consists of 21 schools, offering 51 full-time undergraduate programs and 3 vocational undergraduate programs spanning nine major academic disciplines, along with 3 professional master's degree authorization points.

The college has a dedicated faculty of 1,255 full-time teachers, including 434 with doctoral degrees. Over 87% of the faculty hold a master's degree or higher. MTC has flexibly recruited and appointed 3 national-level talents, and its faculty members have received 55 provincial- or ministerial-level talent honors. A comprehensive talent development system has been established, covering postgraduate, full-time undergraduate and vocational education, adult education, and international student programs, with a total enrollment of over 20,000 students.

Educational Positioning and Teaching Excellence

MTC maintains its orientation as a "teaching-oriented, locally-focused, application-driven, and teacher-training" institution, committed to cultivating high-quality teachers for basic education and application-oriented talents to meet regional socioeconomic needs. Notable achievements in teaching and education include 12 national and provincial first-class undergraduate program construction sites, 56 national and provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 2 national and 16 provincial teaching achievement awards, and full Level-2 certification for all 15 teacher-training majors.

Research, Innovation, and Social Contribution
MTC integrates innovation and entrepreneurship education throughout the talent cultivation process, supported by platforms such as the Innovation Studio of the China Association for Science and Technology and the Sichuan Youth Science & Technology Innovation Education Base. In the past five years, students have won nearly 2,400 national and provincial awards in competitions like "Internet+" and "Challenge Cup," and secured over 1,030 innovation and entrepreneurship projects. In research, MTC focuses on the "One Mountain, One River, One City" initiative, operating key platforms including a Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory and Provincial Key Social Science Research Bases. The discipline of "Environmental Science and Engineering" is part of the Sichuan Gongga Plan (a key provincial "Double First-Class" initiative to develop top-tier disciplines). Through 238 national and provincial research projects, 89 scientific achievement awards, and collaboration with more than 474 institutions, MTC actively contributes to national strategies such as the Rural Revitalization, translating knowledge and talent into tangible social benefits.

Campus Culture and Honors

The campus culture initiatives have yielded fruitful outcomes. Through themed education activities, the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, and branded artistic events, MTC has fostered a vibrant campus atmosphere characterized as "Breadth, Elegance, Interest, and Vitality." These cultural elements are also thoughtfully integrated into the education of international students, enriching their learning with authentic Chinese traditions and contemporary campus life. The college has been honored with titles including the "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee" and "Sichuan Province Civilized Campus."
